Recorded script read-through. Black or mixed race girl aged around 6

Hello - pg here! It's such a long time since I last visited the site. I hope everyone is ok in these strange times. I am posting this on behalf of George Millman who is looking for a child actor for a script readthrough of a TV pilot (it's something I'm taking part in). You can obviously ask to see ...

Re: Realistically is it possible to combine auditioning and modelling after graduation?

You may well find that a decent *performance* agency will provide quite a few commercial modelling opportunities. I think it depends what you mean by "modelling". Commercial photoshoots are often dealt with by theatrical agencies as well as modelling agencies. Some people also have one age...

Re: LAMDA exams

It definitely depends what you're looking for, I agree. It depends very much on the teacher how useful it will be in my opinion. It could be interesting work and a useful focus - but it won't make a difference to CDs or the chances of getting professional work, except that it's more on your feet &qu...

Re: The New GCSE spec - any comments

It's a pity if there's not much practical content - but I wouldn't be concerned in terms of drama school entry (unless it's the only drama a student has access to). Amateur drama, youth drama, drama clubs - I think all these are far more useful. DS went to RADA- and the drama at his school at that t...

Re: Losing an accent?! HELP!!

I'd ask for more information from the agent. I find the advice odd. It's impossible to know which accents are going to be in demand - and one's "native" accent, whatever it is, could be one if the things that gets you seen for a job. No harm in *learning* another accent - but changing one'...

Re: Self tapes and monologues - a bit of market research!

Hello everyone. If you would like some feedback on self-tapes or audition tapes or showreel material etc - then please send me an email on helen{at}helengrady.com. (This email address should obviously have the @ sign where {at} is typed - but I'm trying to reduce the spam possibilities from bots!) P...

Re: Elephant in the room

I have never been aware of self study time at either OSD or RADA - not through absence of tutors in any case. I don't know about other schools. Tutor absence has been covered. Contact hours *definitely* aren't fudged at these two schools. Students are on site, in a "classroom" (or the thea...

Re: Self tapes and monologues - a bit of market research!

Great. I'll get on to this in the next ten days (maximum) and ask for some tapes to be uploaded and will give feedback.

Watch this space!

Re: Self tapes and monologues - a bit of market research!

Thanks for your feedback everyone. Some real food for thought. I hope to make some progress on offering some kind of service over the next two weeks and will report back. I may be asking for some "guinea pigs" - as part of the market research, so if anyone is interested in getting fe...

Re: Elephant in the room

"Contact hours" at drama schools were not fudged in any way on accredited courses. Students were in classes, being given direct, practical (mostly on your feet) lessons from around 9.30am to around 5.30pm - usually five days a week. Exact times would vary. During rehearsals for shows there...

Re: Elephant in the room

I would recommend that, if in doubt about Spotlight eligibility for a particular course, you contact Spotlight directly and ask them . Spotlight entry is very important for actors, without a doubt. I don't know enough about how dancers and singers get jobs to comment on whether Spotlight is a high p...

Re: How does spotlight work when you on spotlight adults?

Have a chat with your agent about how you should approach this. Some agents are happy for their clients to prompt them to apply (there's even a "nudge" button which some agents are happy for their clients to use - though if you can't see it, it probably means your agent doesn't want this)....
