Re: 16 -18/19 training Performing arts/ drama
It may be worth researching what's on offer very carefully, BTEC's are due to be replaced with 'T' levels and there isn't provision for Performing Arts at the moment, not sure if that will change. You may well find that colleges will be offering their own 6th form diplomas/provision in future. Emil...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
So may daughter discovered last night that trying to video a tap solo for an audition doesn't work especially if you are filming in a very echoey room.
So she hurriedly switched to a jazz routine.
I can't believe she filmed her song in one take!

Re: Question for those currently in training
For my daughter it was a fairly easy choice. As she was only 16 she knew that she didn;t really want to go down to one of the London colleges yet, despite having done a summer school at Bird and really enjoyed it. She also felt that Bird was too big a college for her size wise. She did a summer scho...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
I do know quite a lot of people who auditioned as a back-up or just to see what it was like. Shame that it’s seen as a back up! But not in London so can see why. I know some who chose ArtsEd , MV and Hammond as back ups, let's face it , if you are auditioning at 5 /6/7 drama schools they are all ba...

Re: College teaching from next term ?
Yes. And it was almost entirely avoidable if proper measures had been put into place in the first place.

I'd have thought the Junior Certificate was the closest equivalent qualification to GCSE's.

Re: College teaching from next term ?
It does now seem that those doing BA Hons in Performing Arts etc cannot now start until Jan 25th at the earliest according to the letter sent to university students. I expect as a Diploma can be accessed by 16 year olds it could well fall under the FE guidance rather than Further Ed guidance. The f...

My daughter is now back in on 11th as 3rd year diplomas are classed as exam years.
Everyone else is back on 18th.
They are online on zoom until then.

Could be that across all the different courses they run they’ve had that many video submissions.

My son is doing a Btec. He is due in college full time but on alternate weeks.

Re: Standard required for performing arts 6th form vs 3yr diploma at 16
Usually yes
The 3 year Level 6 diploma is equivalent to degree level is meant to lead straight into the industry whereas the 2 year L3 6th form courses are meant to prepare young people for entry to degrees or diplomas.
Some institutions offer both.

Re: So confused about singing training
MY husband started out as a classically trained singer but is now qualified both with Estill and Vocal Process and he also continues to keep up to date with all the latest research. He uses SOVT techniques a lot to help with vocal function. The best teachers understand vocal function as well as styl...
