Re: Scholarship
Scholarship auditions for Sylvia's are advertised in the Stage and you apply via the paper as the scholarship is funded by them. I think it is announced around Feb time but check earlier just in case. Sylvia's also have an Amy Winehouse award funded by the AW Foundation but don't know when that is. ...

Re: Sylvia young full time school
Hi Elesmum, I only check in every few days! My dd had sheet music for her song which the head of music played on the piano, but her dance routine was a backing track on CD so either is fine. Yes I think to audition in yr6 is def a good idea. My dd looks at it as an extra year at the school she loves...

Re: Sylvia young full time school
Hi Elesmum, as well as the scholarship audition in Feb there are several auditions for fee paying places throughout the year for Yr6 & 7 and occasionally Yr8 & 9 if places are available. My dd joined in yr6 & only auditioned in the July for the Sept start. Not all were offered places at ...

Re: Sylvia Young Agency
Haha! Funny you should say that as I asked DS what he'd like to sing and he said 'Singing in the Rain' ! I guess if your DD is going to castings and getting work via your current agent there wouldn't be a need to change. We're sort of known to SYA already since my DD is on their books. As far ...

Re: Sylvia Young Agency
Sorry EleanorRigby66 I haven't been on the site for a few days so I didn't see your reply. I meant to write when I posted that if you haven't been called this time do not give up submitting her details. They told me they have 3 workshops a year and if you don't get called it may be because they have...

Re: Sylvia Young Agency
My 5yr old DS has a workshop audition ( or vice versa! ) on the the 10th July. He's been asked to tell an amusing story and sing a nursery rhyme. Genevieve & DaisyJane I'm really glad to hear it's more relaxed for the younger children. I'm really hoping he'll stick with what we've prepared but I...

Hi letitshine,
A rude question I know, but where do you live? Anyway if you'd prefer not to answer on open forum, please 'pm' me, as I think I know which school you are referring to. I may be able to answer some of your questions (at least from my experience/perspective)

A few years ago Anita Rodderick (founder of Body Shop) stated in a widespread press interview that she would always employ people who had been drama school trained or had worked in the performing arts simply because she had found them to be the most hard working, dedicated and personable bunch of pe...

Re: Grade 3 music exam - Vocal
Hi Livvy2, On the assumption she is doing grade 3 with ABRSM you might find the following link to their website useful: http://www.abrsm.org/en/home All the syllabus information is in the exam section listed under the chosen instrument (ie singing). I think grade 3 is a good grade to start with give...

In that case SignNoMore27 Iwould email Kelly explaining the situation and ask if there is any chance of another time, either on another day or later on Saturday. It can't hurt to ask. Best of luck.

Re: Kelly Management Auditions
Hi ActingMad26, I'm sorry you've had a bad experience in the past, but I'm not sure I'd expect an answer today as it's Sunday. I'm fairly sure they only work Mon to Fri as do most agents and will probably contact people next week. Maybe give it a couple of days. Most companies would need a bit of ti...
