Re: Paying tax abroad
Also worth adding that DC was issued with his NI number at age 14 which he needed in order to complete his UK tax return and claim back the American equivalent of NI contributions that he was exempt from paying in UK. That was a real mission trying to get the number. We couldn't complete the return ...

Re: Paying tax abroad
Kids do have to pay tax on earnings. If a child works as an actor in UK, then usually he/she is classed as self employed and must complete a tax return. If you are savvy with your tax deductable expenses, chances are you will owe very little (if any) tax. If your child works abroad, many countries d...

Re: Film Festival Award Ceremony
We have been fortunate to attend several FF with DS in the past and usually they offer travel, accommodation and sometimes per diem and party invitations (depending on the fest budget). These should all be made clear when you receive the invitation, even if its last minute and I would certainly go b...

Re: When is Spotlight renewal due?
DS has just renewed his spotlight online. he is 18 and still in the Young Performer category (ages 16-20). It was easy to do but if you want a new headshot to go in the book, the deadline has already passed (so says the website).

Re: Amercan Modelling And Acting Agency
Are they legal to work in USA? US citizens, Green card holders, etc? If not, then it might be a problem. Otherwise go for it!!! Having said all this, I don't know of any particular model agency but have a look at the biz parents website www.bizparentz.com which gives tons of info about performing an...

Re: Another Agency Question......sorry :)
When we fIrst started looking for agents in London for DC (7 years ago now), I remember being told time and again that they wanted raw talent, not stage school trained kids (yep, all the jazz hands, teeth etc). Is it still the same now?

Re: Young Dracula
Pre reads are common in USA especially for TV pilots and are the first stage in casting. Actors are invited to meet the CD and read but usually these are not taped. Those invited to the next stage are then taped by CD or casting associate. Not sure if pre casting means the same thing.

Re: Imbd
Yes, the production company will need to have the pro account and add all the details including the actors credits. Even if you have a personal Pro account, you can't add details unless they have been verified by the production listing......I think.

Re: 26 reasons why you didn't get the part
Quote by a very experienced American Casting Director currently based in Prague:
Reason why you got the part - "You look like the Director`s mum"
Reason why you didnt get the part - "You look like the Director`s mum"
Struck a chord with me somewhere....
