audition pieces help!!

My ds has an audition for A&J in January and he needs to prepare an audition piece suitable for TV or film. Help!! What would be suitable for a 14-year old? He has several stage audition pieces but nothing really suitable for TV or film.

Can anyone give me some pointers? [-o<

Re: The Casting Website

Thanks so much...seriously scarey. The website looks so professional (but then anyone can pay for a professional website) and I had a chat with one gentleman who said that as my ds had been accepted into the National Youth Theatre, he didn't need to do the Intake Workshop. Unfortunately they would h...

Re: The Casting Website

This subject keeps popping up so if you do a search you should be able to find previous threads. The general consensus seems to be to avoid. DD recently joined StarNow and has already done a short film for the Virgin Media Shorts with some local students and has another couple of auditions lined up...

The Casting Website

Hello aout there, does anyone have any views on the Casting Website, how useful, successful has it been for you? My DS wants to join but thought I'd check it out first.

Re: What happens in a stage school?

You could always ask to have a look round or arrange a visit during a typical day. I can only comment from the advice I received around Stagecoach which is have a look, visit, speak to other people who already go. Quality with anything can be variable so it's always worth checking things out first. :)

Re: Advice on Bizzykidz

Just to put my bit in!

My ds went to them, was accepted without seeing him act and photographs taken. But we didn't take it any further. It's not that they seemed poor or anything like that, even with our limited experience at the time, we felt our ds was just another one on their books.

Re: New Person!

Hi Ceri :) It's not easy is it? But as everyone has already said there is loads fo info on napm. I don't know what opportunities there are where you live but my ds started off by joining a local theatre group for people aged 8-16. Anyone could join and they put on annual shows for the general public...

Re: Hello! New to boards and appealing for your help!

Hi Juliet :)

Welcome again and I can only restress what PG and Dawn have said - you are more than welcome to use anything I've written! We're happy to be interviewed, though my ds is nearly 14 so he may not be young enough? If he is, let me know and I'll send you a pm.

Re: Stagecoach??

I agree Francescasmum, it is sad that there seems to be such a wide difference in people's experiences with Stagecoach, but I guess that is due, at least in part,to the franchise arrangements. I am glad though that you (and the parents you met at the Chitty auditions) had such positive views. It sou...

I think you do if you are under 16. I don't know about over 16.

Re: Stagecoach??

Thanks folks, I had a chat last night with the parents of one boy who goes to our local franchise. He is pulling out as are several others as the principal has been away since December and drama has stopped altogether. Seems very expensive for what it is here and there certainly seems to be a massiv...

Stagecoach??

Hi Does anyone have any views on whether Stagecoach are worth using? I understand they are a franchise and I'm concerned that this means that though the costs may be equitable across the various schools, the level of teaching won't be. I don't want to pay out needlessly. I did ask if I could see a c...

Re: getting an agent

Did you have any luck finding an agent. I'm in the same boat. My son is 13 (nearly 14) and has just been accepted into the National Youth Theatre. He has loads of experience through his work in the local theatre and production companies, but he is really keen to go further and needs representation t...
