Re: can anyone explain 'buy outs'?

Hi, Yes a buyout is a one-off payment. It has replaced repeat fees (my guess is to do with there being so many more tv channels now). Most buyouts are usually for a one year period, but I would check. If asked to sign on a shoot day, I always take a photo of it on my phone, but you should be given a...

Re: permission refused. is head mistress being unreasonable?

My DS is 7, and will be filming his sixth commercial this year next week. I'm always nervous about requesting time off, but so far his head teacher has been very supportive. On his school report the time off is marked as 'educated offsite' so doesn't affect overall attendance figures. I hope you get...

Everything is authorised and licensed, on his report it is marked as educated off site.

Yes that's an idea, thanks Lollypop.
He's having quite a good run at the moment but it could all fizzle out!

Days off School

Is there a limit to the time missed at school for performing or filming? My DS is filming his fourth commercial this year, and has so far missed three days from school this term, with two more days due this week. His school have been great so far, but I just wondered if there was a set amount of hou...

Re: do they always say this...

It was my DS that struck lucky and ended up as the featured child, but last week we had the opposite! We were told he was confirmed for a VoiceOver job, yet when we got there another child was in the studio. My DS then did his recording so I assumed they were using both. It was a surprise to our age...

Re: Role of back up child

My DS was booked as a back up child for a commercial last month. I had warned him it might be a long boring day, so took plenty to occupy him. On the day he did get taken to wardrobe and hair & make up, but he didn't look anything like the other little boy, who was playing a younger sibling (bot...

Why is everything last minute?

Why do production companies always leave it to the last minute to cast kids? Surely they must know weeks if not months beforehand that they will be filming a commercial etc. I hate all the last minute panic with licenses, getting letters from schools etc. It seems to be getting more common now that ...

Re: Harry Potter Stage Play!!!

My six year old is adamant he is going to Hogwarts when he is 11. When we got him a wand in Ollivander's in universal, Florida, he said we needed to take it back as it didn't work :)

Re: CBBC Series- Hank Zipzer

My DD had two recalls for the part of Heather, then they changed the brief and it went out all over again.
So near, but yet so far!

CBBC Series- Hank Zipzer

Has anyone heard anything about this? My DD attended a workshop last month, and was then asked to do a taped audition a week later, but we've heard nothing since, just wondered if anyone else had. :D
