Dilema

My daughter is 12 and passed grade 7 singing with distinction last term (138/150) with abrsm we have had to change teacher because her other one moved. The new teacher said my daughter should go back to gd4 as she is too young. The teacher seems very nice but I don't know what to do!

Re: singing exams

I think it is a tricky one but as a rule I would always say ABRSM. My daughter who is 12 took Grade 7 singing last summer with Trinity she got 91. We then changed teacher who suggested that we did ABRSM because she felt that would be a more recognised qualification and at the time we were looking fo...

Violin Teacher Medway

Hi Does anybody know of a violin teacher in the Medway area? We have just moved to the area and I need to find a violin teacher for my son who is a beginner (age 5) and my daugher who is 12 and has just passed her Grade 8 with distinction.
Thanks

Re: Music Grade Examination Failure

I have had experience of Grade 6-8 marks being much lower than the earlier grades and I have always insisted that they spend an extra term on exams at this level. Certainly at the age of 13 when the voice is changing so much in both girls and boys. Sometimes the control isn't what it was. My DD had ...

Re: Junior Trinity College of Music

I hope I haven't complicated things for you. I think they will accept a change of first study especially if she is already getting lots of singing opportunites out side of the conservatoire. In my opinion she would benefit much more from the instrumental side of things than vocally. We did have a fe...

Re: Vocal coaching

I hope the coaching goes well. Take things slowly and she will be fine. Remember that you only have one voice and it needs to be treated with care but in the right hands it will flourish and go from strength to strength.

Re: Vocal Coach Central/North London

I would look online at musicteachers. co.uk or contact local independent schools who are more likely to employ individual music teachers.
Good luck at the audition

Re: Junior Trinity College of Music

Congratulations to your daughter. My daughter went to Junior Trinity for 4 years. Initially she was also doing singing flute and piano like your daughter will be doing. We did however have a problem with the singing teachers, we tried 3 in the space of 6 months and none of them were any good they we...
