Re: all the dancers have gone...
I'm still here - but since I do not have a dancing child, nor do I live in the UK - I usually am only able to reply to technical questions concerning dance - specifically ballet.

Re: First Pointe shoes
Your teacher will show you where to sew on the ribbons - which is quite an individual thing for each dancer's foot. Wearing them around the house is a good way but how they are broken in also depends upon the what the teacher thinks is correct. Wearing them around the house works for some - others h...

Re: How much dance each week?
In reply to your comment about not understanding dance..... Generally speaking ballet class helps with almost any other dance form and thus most dancers who are specializing in other forms of dance will try to keep a ballet class or two in their weekly schedule. However, if ballet is the chosen spec...

Re: First Pointe shoes
I hope your daughter is not going up on pointe. And the elastics and ribbons should not be sewn on until the teacher approves of them. And, they should not be getting soiled. If so - the store will not take them back if they show any use - in case the teacher does not like them. Pointe should only b...

Re: How much dance each week?
I think that being led by what your child wants is very good advice. And, always allowing the child the right to say "no." That's important too. What we fall in love with at 6,7, 8 yrs old - doesn't mean we have to love it for years on end. And, I do think the parent should have a role in ...

Re: First Pointe shoes
Here are some things to keep in mind whilst buying pointe shoes: Buying Pointe Shoes The first person to ask advice is your teacher. She may very well have suggestions as to what style/make of pointe shoe would be appropriate for your feet. So talk to her. Also ask her advice as to what shop to go t...

Re: Advice on ankle injury
It is important that he continue to allow the ankle to rest AFTER the pain has stopped - healing is still going on. Since the ankle is a moving as well as a weight bearing joint if it is not allowed to heal completely there is the possibility of chronic problems. Injury results in torn tissue and th...
