Re: Video submissions for Arts Ed

Thanks for the replies. It seems other colleges are requiring upper body only so DD is going with that. Another friend apparently got a recall using just upper body so presumably it doesn't matter :)

Video submissions for Arts Ed

Does anyone here know how much of the body needs to be filmed for Arts Ed audition songs? DD had assumed it was top half of body only but she now thinks they want to see the whole of the body as in the dancing. She's basing this on audition tips Arts Ed have produced with their current students. Won...

Re: So confused about singing training

DD has trained with Speech Level Singing. She is always complemented on her healthy voice and she copes well with all styles of singing. As has been said, a good teacher adapts to the needs of the student and that changes as their voice matures. Pre-1965 songs are often an audition requirement for M...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

It's a shame that dance studios are currently closed although I know not all are - DD's former performance troupe are still meeting in London and rehearsing/training as normal. And some colleges are having to send kids off early due to the Government's Operation Xmas so their studios can't be used o...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

My DD has a couple more as she really doesn't know whether she'd be happier at a dance college or a more acting/singing one so is keeping all options open. She feels it has been more difficult not being able to visit the colleges, go to proper Open Days, see end of term shows etc or get accurate fee...

Re: Has COVID changed your DC training/career plans?

Yes I think it is a worry for so many young people. DD is certainly concerned about being ready to audition for degree/diploma, given that large bubbles are being sent home constantly to go back on Zoom despite wearing masks and socially distancing at college. I don't think there is any right answer...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Thanks lotsolaffs. We know Urdang for example you just apply and see what happens and some ask for your preference (which for us depends on funding as well as the nature of the course) Some have different audition days for BA Hons v diploma but for most it's online with lots of uploading of exercise...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Many thanks forthe confirmation about fees. We were only looking at the application format to see what photos were needed. But you would have to start completing the forms to get the info needed. DD certainly won't let me anywhere near her application forms once she starts! I believe she's now got h...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Hi all - Couple of 2021 application questions we're hoping someone can help with! 1) We are having problems when clicking on the Laine Apply Now Button - says something about Debug. Does anyone know if their applications are live? Is it just us having problems? 2) Photo requirements. We can find the...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

I don't understand why PA colleges are doing everything so differently. How come some are almost fully online whilst others are fully face to face? Is this all down to numbers of students or size of the studios? At DD's college, staff wear visors but they don't when doing the same role at some other...

Up to 36 hours contact per week - and all back in the studios at the moment. All the subjects you'd expect (Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Commercial, Contemporary, Ensemble Singin...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

My DD is going into 2nd Year BTEC. Which year will your son be in? Can't recommend it more highly - although I expect it will feel very different for DD compared to when she left on March 16th! Good luck to your DS - he'll love it there!

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Not had the official email yet from Emil Dale but understand that students will be kept in their Year Group Project Bubble for everything - so half a year group of around 20 students (BTEC 2 have two Musical Theatre projects running side by side so will audition for and be allocated for one - also I...

That's awful! This must be throwing so many young people's lives into turmoil after they've already been through five difficult months. I feel for them all.

Re: Bird Reserve List

I would think it is a gesture due to the exceptional and awful situation those students are in. That must include those already half way through their degree and those who were due to start in September. If DD's friend gets in she may have to start from Year 1 - despite having completed two years al...
