Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry

Lawn is correct. At Artsed and MV the degrees are simply validated by the universities. They are free to create their own curriculum /syllabus and are not constrained by university requirements - hence differences like more contact hours, longer terms, different weighting between academic/vocational...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Good luck to everyone starting this week - or very soon! And congratulations to them all. I can't believe that DD is going into her final year and is nearing the end of her training journey (and all the anxieties that will no doubt bring!) DD still feels so privileged to be having these amazing oppo...

Re: Auditioning for 2024 entry

Emil Dale 6th form is a great choice - definitely one of the very best BTEC courses in our opinion - and many students live with host families in their first year. Good luck as you start out on this rollercoaster of a ride and all the best to your DD!

Re: Funding for the more expensive colleges

That's a huge amount now for Laine! Laine is unusual in that it still only offers a diploma (with a self-funded top up degree option in the third year) - however rumour has it that they want to offer a full degree from 2025. That would make a huge difference if it's true but I've only heard this fro...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

We got onto estate agents' lists, but dd also linked with others on the social media chats. She nearly dismissed the one she ended up in as it seemed expensive and only three rooms (she was in a group of four) - but it was through a 2nd Year moving out along with two third years -and he explained th...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Accommodation is indeed very pricey in Chiswick. We managed to get a good deal for DD when she started two years ago by moving into a flat with rooms of varying sizes. The overall rent was split according the size of each room (communal areas shared) and she was lucky that one girl happily paid more...

I saw this and felt so sad. DD also had several castings through her. Such a wonderful and caring woman. Taken too soon.

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Congratulations to all of your dc with offers! Fantastic! It's great to hear of successes. And good luck to all of those still auditioning or waiting on results. Well done to everyone going through this exciting but nail biting process! We remember it well!

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Thinking of you all as you continue on this rollercoaster ride. DD is in her 2nd year and thriving - but I can't imagine going through all that audition madness again! It takes over your lives. But hang on in there. It's worth it in the end. DS starts rehearsals next week for his West End debut. The...

Re: Colleges and their different focuses

ArtsEd is certainly triple threat (DD is in 2nd year) with approximately a third of the week dedicated to each discipline but with considerable overlap as MT is about integration not separate skills. There are amazing dancers as well as great singers in DD's year. As stated, student destinations is ...

Re: Auditioning for 2023 entry

Maintenance loans are only for first degrees. DADAs can be awarded for the Trinity Diploma. Not everyone however is awarded one and for the majority of people, a student loan with a maintenance loan is far more desirable - hence people opting for student finance at places like Mountview and ArtsEd (...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

That's great news Mimismum! My dd has really grown during her first year at ArtsEd. At times she has felt quite young compared to the majority of the course but has learned SO much and knows it was the right choice for her. She can't wait to start Year 2. Good luck to your dd and congratulations!

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

The students ar ArtsEd who are awarded the diploma are those on a DADA. The rest - the vast majority - are awarded a degree. I believe DADA recipients get a degree awarded too. They're all on the same course - it's just how it's funded. DADAs, if awarded, are based on household income from the previ...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

I think it ia worth contacting ArtsEd Mimismum. A girl DD knows from her 6th form college has just been offered a place from the Reserve list - so there is movement. We would be like you and not want to look "pushy" but I do think a call from a keen student could make a positive difference...
