Re: audition songs - help needed!
I'm still haven't found a perfect song! It's tricky to know what's best when you're not used to singing, I guess. And thank you for responding

Re: The benefits of student film
I've just been doing a lot of shorts over the summer, and think it's a great and beneficial experience. But wouldn't have missed school for them - if you've been picked once I'm sure you'll get picked again so look out for stuff in the holidays etc to get involved with, good luck!

Re: audition songs - help needed!
Hiya - so sorry for not replying earlier I haven't had access to the internet! Unfortunately the audition fell through as they lost funding! But I'm still trying to figure out some good potential audition songs in case this happens again :) And, as soon as funds will allow it, some singing lessons w...

audition songs - help needed!
Hiya! I've been asked to sing a song at an audition tomorrow evening - I'm not a singer so I have no idea what to sing. Does anyone have any advice? The character is in their late teens and I need something fairly easy. I have quite a soft, folky voice. It's not for a musical theatre piece but don't...

Professional Names
I've been lucky to have taken part in several short films now, so just to have to wait for the all important footage to make a showreel and apply for agencies! In the mean time, I've been working hard in my little non-acting job to save up for spotlight, but now I'm finally ready to apply I just won...

Re: Student films
I've had a good experience with student films. The websites listed do have castings from some non-student shorts as well, and last month I did 4 shorts altogether (2 from mandy and 2 from a non-paid subscription with adult ccp) and I would really recommended this kinda experience. Although I'm older...

Re: How much experience needed to apply to agencies?
I just got approached by one agent... £60 to be put up on the website  Maybe this isn't going to happen any time but with another short film this week at least there's more for the showreel! Thank you letitshine! Good luck to you and your dd! Just keeping building up on the bits of experience ...

Re: How much experience needed to apply to agencies?
ps, I'm not complaining about the time/emails etc. I actually love to keep proactive, being motivated, etc. Because you can see it makes a difference, and it's good to know you're actually doing something even when you're not 'working.'

Re: How much experience needed to apply to agencies?
Thanks Paulears. Your insights are very helpful. It's good to know that all these shorts I'm doing, which involve a lot of time, emails, and a lot of 'safety' precautions when it comes to meeting people who might not be who they say they are (so far, it's all good, but I did turn down an audition at...

Re: How much experience needed to apply to agencies?
Paulears - that was exactly my worry - why would an agent hire me without good reason to believe I might be booked by their clients? etc. Hopefully building up experience is making me more and more worthwhile to take a chance on, but we'll see! Thanks for your expertise :) And trigger1, thanks so mu...

How much experience needed to apply to agencies?
Since finishing drama at uni, I've done a couple of short films and have a couple more in the pipeline. I can't quite believe it, as even though they are low/unpaid I thought everything was going to be so much more difficult, whereas feedback has been really promising and I'm so surprised. Neverthel...

Re: Questions for anyone knowledgeable about the industry :)
Hi Paulears. I think some of my wording is just me getting carried away, but what you're saying is true - and your emphasis on 'up-skill'ing. Thank you again :) And I hope I find a hook too! pg - we learnt a lot about 'making theatre' in some of our practicals in a way which would be suited to fring...

Re: Questions for anyone knowledgeable about the industry :)
Hi Paulears. That's right - it was 50% theory based and 50% practical. Unfortunately, I haven't done amateur since I was at college, when I was in a couple of plays - I didn't know if that was worth putting on a resume or not? Since uni, I have just done numerous short plays as part of the course an...
