Re: Dancing is too expensive

My husband asked where all our money goes the other day - I just mentioned the word dance and gave him a knowing look  Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel - youngest ds gave up a couple of years ago, middle dd (lots of lessons, festival costumes etc) only has just over a year b...

Re: UK Dance competitions

How far are you from Farnborough (north Hampshire)? There's a dance festival on next week that it might be worth getting along to to see the standard and types of dance in festivals. Here's the link to their website and you'll find the programme on there: http://www.aldershot-festival.org/index.php?...

Re: Graduation present for male ballet student

Thanks all :D

I did promise him an expensive fleece he saw in the Lakes last year if he got a job somewhere cold - so that's on the list!! I like the photo frame idea. (The practical stuff we'll probably help with anyway, so wanted to get something personal for a present on graduation day)

Re: Tap "Sneakers" needed

Thanks all - managed to find some for sale on Ebay, but never the right size - but then found an old dusty box in our dance studio containing a pair of barely worn shoes. Daughter's very happy as she's now wearing them for the group and her new solo :D Conella - if you want to sell yours let me know...

Graduation present for male ballet student

OK then guys - need your help - what to get my (will be) 19 year old son who is graduating from ballet school in July. Don't want to spend a fortune - he's cost us enough money over the years ;) and I think I'd find it much easier for a girl so I'm open to suggestions. I've done a scrapbook in the p...

Re: Tap "Sneakers" needed

A pair came up on eBay but went for more than I wanted to pay! I know a few people who have had them (teachers mainly) who have put me off as they just fall to pieces apparently which is probably why there aren't many secondhand ones coming up for sale. The tap group teacher said not to worry if I c...

Re: all the dancers have gone...

I'm still here too and please don't think we're ungrateful - it's just that there's quite a close community of ballet dancing parents on the other board, and also others who don't have children so may not think to visit here - but who can give advice from a ballet teacher/ex-professional/ballet crit...

Re: Tap "Sneakers" needed

Capezio make them I think - just need to find where sells them. One of our dance teachers thinks one of her old schools might have some, so she's going to find out. Fingers crossed. Daughter's in a tap group playing the part of a "jogger" so they'd be ideal

Tap "Sneakers" needed

Does anyone know where I can get a pair of tap shoes that are the same style as split sole dance sneakers? I've seen people wear them, but the only pair I can find online was on EBay in a size 3 (I need a 6)

Any ideas?

Re: Dance over the festive season

I was thinking the same about the crew as I know they've got to be there before the dancers and must be there before Christmas too to sort out the staging - at least the dancers have had a week off :D

Re: Dance over the festive season

My son's performing with Birmingham Royal Ballet in The Nutcracker at the O2 :D Look out for him - he's the tallest (I think) blonde, male party guest - he wears a cape, has a wife and two sons  And then he's a soldier in the battle scene and makes a brief entrance as a soldier in Act 2 - carti...

Re: Ballet site "going into archive"

Just trying to think of what sections might be useful....

Vocational schools - auditions and general
Associate programmes - auditions and general
Auditions for other dance related things!
General conversations

Hmmm - must keep thinking :-k
