Re: Applying for 2013

wish it was that simple - when my dd auditioned the auditions she thought had gone really well, she didn't get recalls for, and those she thought she'd not done that well.. offered her recalls !!! it's a hard one , as you really never can tell, and you can never 'read' an audition panel  :-k :...

Re: BOVTS Summer School

Hi
DS did a week there last summer and enjoyed it so much he stayed on for a 2nd week! I have no idea what they did but he is very picky...so it must have been good!

Re: monologue help...again

Thankyou. It just says 'a contemporary play' , doesn't specify the dates. Are you allowed to abridge it yourself to trim it down, or does it have to be the original version? I know choosing is all part of the selection process but it would be easier if they just gave you a few choices and you had to...

Re: monologue help...again

Thanks Sapphire. When it says a contemporary play does that just mean something written recently (post 1940s ish) or does it also have to be about modern times. So if you write a play today about the Romans is it still contemporary? Probably a daft question...but I know nothing about drama/acting! t...

Re: Applying for 2013

Just phoned CHichester and they had emailed DS an audition date on 14 dec, which he didn't receive. So I'm glad I phoned as they will reschedule it.

Thanks Showtunes.

Re: Applying for 2013

Thanks Showtunes.

I rather liked Chichester, and one of the tutors there has worked with DS before and suggested he applied as he thought the course was perfect for him......so it does seem odd he hasn't been called to audition.

I will be glad when its all over!

Re: Applying for 2013

Hi
Has anyone had auditions at Chichester or Bath Spa for the acting/theatre courses. DS has been called to auditions at his other 3 choices but not heard from these 2?

Big 'well done's to everyone who has been doing so well at the auditions.

Re: Please tell me about NYMT and YMT..

Hi DS is thinking of trying for the YMT , they have spaces still for this sunday (well we only just found out about it!!!!) - he is a good actor but not so hot on singing and dancing. I see that mostly the shows are musicals, but one of the shows is looking for actors. I don't think you have to take...

Re: Applying for 2013

Any one familiar with ALRA? DS is looking at it due to the tv element. Just wondered where it came in the pecking order....if you know what I mean ;)

Re: Applying for 2013

Good luck everyone. DS just sent in his UCAS form has decided to focus on Uni places for 2013, rather than Drama School, as the uni acting/theatre courses allow more opportunity for devising and contemporary work, and directing, which he absolutely loves. He has included MMU on his UCAS form (just i...

Re: Applying for 2013

Hi all DS has a head full of UCAS/Uni Open days/Drama School/Acting BScs and the dreaded Personal Statement.......and still can't, after years of wanting be an actor, decide where he wants to apply to, or if he wants to go in 2013, or leave it a year....or even if he wants to go anywhere! I think th...

Re: Trinity Exams ???

Thanks sapphire. I think they must be the ones.

I was interested on the style. I always think LAMDA needs a fairly formal style of acting and wondered if these may be more 'natural', if that makes sense!

I'm sure someone here will have been involved in them.

Trinity Exams ???

Hi

As part of DSs college Acting course he is being entered for Trinity exams. Are they very similar to LAMDA exams? He has been told to go off and find a piece to do, so can you choose anything you fancy?

Any advice welcome.
