Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
Aw fab news on getting the degree course! Just a heads up. For Bird They can get a free bus pass through TFL as they will be living in a London borough so don’t discount a small bus ride away. I had the mad scramble to find landlord accomadtion for my DD and one lovely lady explained it to me as I ...

Re: Training at 16 or 18 ?
I have a 16 year old going to Bird with a DaDA and an 18 year old going to PPA. The eldest would not have coped going at 16 but they are so different. My 16 year old knew she had to get funding or I couldn’t have afforded it, she would have just tried again at 18. She did have a wobble and almost sa...

Re: What to do when parents are unsupportive?
Have you tried talking to them? Suggesting that as long as she has a back up plan of being a dance teacher/ choreographer /owning her own dance school/producing plays and musicals, then she can do what she loves and make money. Maybe she could go to a university that has a really good extra curricul...

Re: Top Talent Agency
Hiya. :D Does anyone have any recent experience with TTA? :-k And if so, what's it like as it seems really big plus I'm wondering if preference is given to kids that go to their theatre school. :-k Thanks for any insights- am looking for an agent! Hi. I have a daughter with TT. They are a viva hand...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
It’s nowhere near £1000! It’s for Wilkes Academy and only £250 but my DD does already have nice headshots which a friend took in preparation for the auditions. I guess we just pay to get more! Thankfully she also has most of the expensive uniform items too (tap shoes, pointe shoes etc.) Many thanks...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
Update, Reverse lists are starting to move! Morning all, Didn't want to post until official letter came, dd has received offer from Bird and accepted a place from the reserve list \:D/ \:D/ . This means that she'll let her other funded places go. Best of luck to all on reserve Lists, fingers crosse...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
GSA have just posted on FB that their entry requirements for 2019/20 will be CCC. Start of a new era they’re saying, talent over grades... Wise decision I think. I bet they lose out as those with multiple offers go for certainty from another college rather than gambling on A level results. Trouble ...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
Ok Ladies and Gents. I have just spoken to a lovely lady at Laine. She told me whilst there has been a bit of movement on the reserve funding list (girls) there has only been a couple of places that have declined. Realistically she didn’t expect to get to my daughter (currently number 17) as she sai...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
Can anyone offer advice regarding any ‘add-on’ costs for new starters in Sept? My DD has received an Induction pack which clearly (and very helpfully) sets out uniform requirements but also a request for ‘Performance fee and Headshots’ which is required very soon. As a complete newbie I wasn’t expe...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
Just had a thought. For anyone going to Italia Conti Arts Centre (Guildford) if your DC is small my daughter has 2 compulsory conti leotards (one worn once and one nerve worn!) that she is selling. £10 each. She can sell her acting skirt for £15 too. These are only worn for Christmas carol concerts ...

Re: GSA Musical Theatre - info needed!
In terms of the 3 disciplines. I think it is known best for acting and singing but they still do dance and I'm sure it will be good. It is not a dance heavy school though like Bird or Urdang. Thanks. We are super proud (even if he narrowly missed on the grades in the end). I was just doing the pani...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
Does anyone have experience of Landlord/Lady accommodation at bird? Do they have more than one student? I know my daughter would prefer to have someone else with her. She’s getting a bit jittery now bless her. I know she’ll be fine (bound to be a bit nervous) but just wondering how it works? How ol...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018
Very sadly after 6 weeks of waiting we had a letter today telling us that Laine cannot offer my DD a Dada, this was after I was told verbally last week that she was on the reserve list. I understand how difficult it must be for these colleges to make decisions on who to award funding to, what I can...
