Re: Italia Conti Saturday school
RDF I look back on the days when it was all done and dusted on a Saturday quite fondly...it was exactly for the Ballet that our eldest expanded her week and now there aren't many days where she doesn't dance! Aside from being only once per week, they take Ballet through to Grade 7 inclusive, so if y...

Re: Italia Conti Saturday school
Hi - we've children at the Barbican Saturday School and have been going there for years! Since january they've swtiched to 5 x 8 week terms, which some people like as it means more weeks and more classes and others dislike as classes continue through holidays and half terms to some extent. You can s...

Re: Drama lessons - Kingston
The Rose Theatre has a Youth Theatre that I've heard is good (no personal experience, and straight acting rather than musical theatre), which runs on the weekends. It is for 11+, but I don't know if there are any plans for younger ones and I see that there are some Sumer events aimed at 8+, so may b...

Re: Time off school refused?
I'd forgotten about the coding. DD has far more sessions of Approved Educational Actitvity than she does Authorised Absence :D She says she could do with a bit more of the Approved Educational Activity mind! Primary schools never really minded her taking some time off, and although very few occasion...

Re: Time off school refused?
Hi Viks2030 Thankfully not had this situation arise for my DD (Y8), where absence hasn't been authorised, but we did have a long meeting with the Deputy Head of her secondary school when she first started about any possible absences for work. They were very clear that they would not authorise absenc...

Re: Please tell me about NYMT and YMT..
you get instructions and format emailed to you nearer the date, I remember it was workshop style as far as the dancing was concerned and you have to prepare a song with sheet music, NYMT send you a list of all those they can provide too, if you get stuck, a big long list to choose from. you can per...

Re: Please tell me about NYMT and YMT..
Hadn't spotted that Hecouldshine. Nosey side of me wants to know why now as well of course! Does anyone know the format for the auditions e.g. workshop style and you just turn up, or whether you need to prepare song & monologue ahead of time? We've just had a confirmation email - you're booked f...

Re: Dance Floor for home
I'm shocked Deb O:) thought this was a family forum [-X Take the point Funnygirl - certainly wouldn't dream of letting her near her pointe shoes away from her ballet teachers, nor would she want to risk injury herself to be fair, so she's pretty cautious about what she does. It's fairly usual practi...

Re: Anyone know anything about "EnglishNationalBallet Youth
It's all the initials that get me Katymac - EYB, NYB, LCB, ENB
(English Youth Ballet, Natioanl Youth Ballet, London Children's Ballet, English National Ballet)
I feel like I'm constantly running to keep up with what's happening too

Re: Anyone know anything about "EnglishNationalBallet Youth
It's run by Holly Noble and they meet for 2 hours weekly on a Thursday in Hammersmith. 14-19 year olds but you can contact Holly and ask if your DC can dance with them if near that age to try out. Taster workshop was yesterday to potentially recruit new members. It is a selective group and standard ...

Dance Floor for home
DD has a wooden floor in her room and frequently practises ballet and modern but is banned from practising tap there! She'd like some kind of portable floor (For Xmas!) so that she can practise tap and I was wondering what others do/ what you know is available?
Thanks
