Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result

Justeph11 Congratulations on the offer Bop2thetop has explained it really well. There is no difference in the talent for degree and diploma at Urdang - its just a different route. The website (brochure section) does explain it really well in terms of the different "tracks" you can take fro...

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result

Performmum DS loved Millennium at his audition - great feel about the place and we were both certainly impressed by the Directors. I think if you check the Directors all used to work at London Studio Centre before setting up on their own......I imagine in 2000. Agreed a bit tired looking than other ...

Re: It really shouldn't all be about money

Absolutely agree ...... personally I would support all Diploma and Degree students having the access to the student loans as an even playing field. DS1 totally reliant on his parents - DS2 will access the student loan for his "academic" education. On a "positive" note I often rea...

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result

Suesmith At the Laine Audition last year we were specifically told that they would be keeping their bursary funding for students who had the talent to have previously been offered Dadas but no longer could be because of the new rules. Last year was the transition year - it was the end of March and t...

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result

Congratulations suesmith -wonderful news for your DD Dance&Smile It may still be worth going for the Urdang recall. We also couldn't apply for a DADA (very stressful last year as the rules changed after DS applied everywhere). But DS got a significant fee reduction after the recall audition. We ...

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result

Congratulations!

Millenium was DS first audition so I went with him. DS really liked it - had a great atmosphere and feel. I loved the fact that at the end of the day the Directors already knew peoples names.

All the very best of luck with the next stage.

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result

Amanda You're right - for the degree you can access the student loan system. For the diploma funding is through a DaDA or an Urdang Scholarship ....... or unfortunately no funding. Its obviously an important consideration......also worth looking at the courses themselves. The former has more time fo...

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result

DS on the Diploma - first year. Approx 90 on the Diploma and up to 50 (he's not sure!) for the degree. Diploma students broken down into streams ( ballet, tap, singing etc). Please accept my apologies for the vagueness of my response - DS not a DD! He is daily "blown away" by the talent wi...

Re: Lots of luck to all auditionees! & a place to put result

DS at Urdang. Absolutely loving it - all the very very best to those auditioning on Sunday. I'm not sure they do have space for parents at auditions - but I'll ask DS for you. It is a long day - I remember waiting for the phone call last year after the audition - it was definitely 6.30 - if not late...

Re: So much has changed & so much is the same

Katymac Urdang open days are already published - click on "Full time courses" on the web site and the dates are there. Our experience from last year was that they (and the others) fill up very quickly as all have limited numbers. For Bird too we had to book. DS didn't go to Laine, Performe...

Re: So much has changed & so much is the same

I don’t know if this helps at all - but thought I would put down our timetable for entry for this September. Totally agree with PG- (great post) - our experience was that audition dates come through very quickly from applications so I would be sure you are first “audition ready” or thereabouts. Appl...

Re: DaDa Funding for 2013-14

Robsmumma . I totally agree - if classed as Higher Education and they are 18 - should be able to access a student loan like any other student ..... but alas common sense does not seem to prevail. There was a petition about this but I don't know what happened to it? At the least they should be able t...

Katymac

Sorry you're struggling with your list. Is there anything that those of us that went through the applications for MT for this Septembers entry can help with? The whole process is still very fresh in my mind.

Happy to help if can
