Re: Scream Management?
As some of you will know my DS has been with Scream for 7 years now and has had a quite successful career with them (CBBC, Royal Exchange, DIsney etc). I have posted on here numerous times in defence of Scream when people have complained about admin or workshop fees etc. However, I wanted to post ou...

Re: Leave home at 15?
At some point in the near future your DS is going to have to: 'leave home give up piano dump his agent leave his beloved dance school & singing teacher leave the Notts TV workshop' isn't he? Life changes - thankfully we don't stay the same or in the same place all our lives. I would go for the a...

Re: Very concerned about dance teacher
I can't really comment on the effect this may have on your DS. How old is she? My kids frequently go all day without eating - I think it's a teenage thing. With regard to the teacher's health, unless you have an unusually close relationship with her I think you need to be careful. The most I think I...

Re: Clueless! What classes to do?
Hi there, This is probably not what you want to hear but... your DD is only 4 years old - only just starting school I assume? There are a lot of big changes about to happen for her, new school, new friends not to mention the demands of the very intensive new National Curriculum. I am sure that she t...

Re: Self tapes and monologues - a bit of market research!
Hi PG, I would also be interested. As I mentioned before, DS has never had anything from a self tape despite being moderately successful otherwise. Only last week, we submitted a tape to a CD who knows and likes him, for a part he was (IMHO) suited to - nothing! Think we must be doing something wron...

Re: Self tapes and monologues - a bit of market research!
Hi PG, I think this might be of interest to us. My DS is a fairly successful child actor (CBBC, Nick Jnr, Disney Channel etc) but over the years he has got absolutely nothing from any of the 100s of self tapes we've done. As to how much we would pay that's a tricky one. I suppose it would depend on ...

Does anybody live in/know Liverpool?
Having to move to Liverpool temporarily as DS has a place at LIPA 6th form. He's too young to be on his own completely and we are lucky enough to have a bit of spare cash to buy a small place there. Two of the girls he met at audition are also interested in sharing which will help. If anyone can giv...

That is really annoying - yes I'd be on to the agent - though I suspect they'll just say 'we weren't told ...' Chin up

Post 16 time off school/college
Does anyone know how things will work re permission for time off school or college now that education is compulsory up to year 13? Some of the colleges DS has looked at are fine with him taking time out to work, others (and these were performing arts colleges) said absolutely no. But is permission r...

Re: SCREAM or smaller agency?
My standard reply - it still stands: My DS is with Scream - has been for 6 years. Some people have issues with the annual charge (about £25 I think) and the 'refresher workshops' which are twice a year and are £22 but the % they take seems to compare quite well with other agents. In 6 years DS has w...

Re: Renowned dance school/companies
just to add a 'hear hear' to Woody's comments. An hour and a half travel, an hour class? Do think carefully - it really does build up especially if the school enters festivals etc.

Re: At what point do you stop doing things for free?
When our DS first started out, his 1st, 2nd and 3rd jobs were with a professional theatre company who put on Christmas shows in the local theatre. The first year, he and his sister auditioned for parts in the Lion,The Witch and The Wardrobe. Although he'd mainly gone along to support her he got a pa...

Re: Is a DaDA only for dance? Any info re Tring scholarships?
LIPA thread also started by me :D :D A very serious contender - we would have to move/rent in Liverpool but could still be cheaper than Hammond - certainly cheaper than Tring! They only offer the BTEC extended (= 3 A levels). DS quite fancies doing a couple of academic subjects as well which are off...
