Re: Phoenix associates

Sorry didn't mean to imply I'd cancel just for the sake of it(e.g if DD decided she didn't like it/clashed with other things), I meant if anything happened like if they do a couple of classes and then never turn up again, I think I'd then be within my rights to cancel as they would not have been pro...

Re: Phoenix associates

Thank you 2dancers, I could only find as you say a lot of marketing/advertising by him and the same 2 parents praising the classes, it's a gamble I think but we can pay via direct debit each month instead of the full amount upfront so if anything happens we can always cancel the payments and not los...

Phoenix associates

I just wondered if anyone had any dealings with or had heard of phoenix associates (or the man behind it David Stinson)? DD is supposed to be signing up with them and doing a class once a month but I have never heard of them and can't find much info on them other then their website and facebook page...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

Thanks for the info islandofsodor, so glad I didn't waste money on exams with the BDAF. It's been over a year now since DD moved and the difference in her is just crazy, she's like a different kid and she absolutely LOVES to dance now, I think in total she is doing 16 classes, as well as helping chor...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

Just thought I'd update this to let you all know how DD is getting on now, lots more drama with the principal but that doesn't matter any more. DD has tried out most classes at this new place now and she loves it! She said the standard is much higher and she's actually working hard, getting out of b...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

paulears - As you pointed out the BDAF are not validated and seemingly set their own standards and as pointed out by riverdancefan from her experience the standards are not the same as say RAD and ISTD. It would be fine if BDAF grades were the same standard as other examination boards but it seemin...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

We've just paid for her monthly membership (£85) and she is signed up for an easter workshop(£50) and a few day workshops (free because she's on the highest membership), they'll probably miss that money as we always pay in full, on time every single month whereas some people they chase for money for...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

I asked DD if she would consider leaving but she's really reluctant to just go, I think she wants to feel settled elsewhere before leaving completely, I'm keeping everything crossed that the classes she's trying at this other place she will love and be keen to leave the old school behind asap. I thi...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

Sorry to bring this up again but I am absolutely fuming! DD did not want to go to her weekend classes but wouldn't tell me why, just said she was feeling a bit ill(which was odd because she was fine at the other dance school yesterday). I knew there was more to it but didn't want to push her too har...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

riverdance - yes it was really positive, there was an incident with some of the little ones whacking each other which concerned her but I asked her if she would bat an eyelid if it was at her current school and she said no. So I helped her see that it was just little kids being silly and they are n...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

francescasmum - I'm not sure what you mean? I know the BDAF stands for british dance arts federation but not knowing a whole lot about dance etc I just assumed when we signed up 18 months ago that it was a well known organisation, particularly as the principal kept bragging about the students all p...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

2dancers - She's come home from school feeling alot more positive about trying a new place, she's quite excited really. She normally gets on well with other kids and everywhere we go she ends up making a new (temporary) friend so I'm sure she was worrying for nothing, she'll come out tomorrow all s...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

Eleanorrigby - I don't think it's well known, when I was originally looking for a school I stumbled across it on facebook, their website doesn't exactly scream professional but we went to their open day and DD loved it, she was only meant to try 1 dance style for 30 mins she ended up staying for nea...

Re: Agent news :)

Congratulations xx We had the same thing happen, when looking for a new agent I sent her info off to quite a few but signed up with PD Management who are just amazing and in the past few weeks I've had emails from almost all of the agents I sent info to asking for her to attend an audition, these th...

Re: Not sure exams are legitimate?

I've been unhappy since this time last year, that's when the problems started, this time last year they were heading to the west end to dance and the principal kept changing routines and what they needed for costumes (even expecting people to drop everything and drive 30 miles down the motorway to g...
