Re: So confused about singing training

Just to add, an Estil qualified teacher won’t be one particular style, although they may have their area of expertise. It’s much more about understanding your voice & how to use it for whatever style you’re singing rather than say, mt, bel canto or pop etc. I would definitely recommend getting s...

Re: So confused about singing training

Anyone who has Estil qualifications will be a guaranteed safe bet (a certified teacher - have a look on The Voice Explained website) but otherwise I would look for someone who understands voice and not just style. A good teacher should be able to teach different styles without having to sacrifice ra...

Re: colds and sore throats any tips?

Drink warm water with lime, drink small amounts of water regularly, a steamer might help (just a basic facial cleansing one for about £20), some people say echinacea helps but I don’t know enough about that to say whether it does or not, avoiding talking when her throat is sore and absolutely don’t ...

Re: LAMDA exams

There are so many benefits from doing Lamda exams. There are the presentation skills learnt from having to walk into an unknown space & introduce themselves to the examiner with clear diction, being polite, etc. They then have to calmly move from one piece to another (often with high emotions in...

Re: Self tapes?

Self-tapes are such an odd one aren't they, it seems easier because you have time to get it right, but I always end up coming to the conclusion that the first take was the best! With regards to not hearing back, I guess they ask a lot more children to cast when they do it via self tape. In that resp...

Re: Lamda knowledge

Hi, thanks very much for your reply. I've just had a look at the syllabus again and it just says own choice of song (one before 1980, one after and one of any era)? So she's not taken her songs from a list as far as I know. Hoping she's not got the wrong ones! Thanks again

Lamda knowledge

Hi there, my daughter has her grade 6 musical theatre exam in a few weeks time. She needs to know about the style of her songs. I'm not sure what she's supposed to answer? Her songs are all musical theatre style, I'm not sure how to be more specific. One is perhaps a little bit jazzy but the other i...

Re: Musical theatre

I think if you look on the stiles and drew website they have a link to their sheet music. It's a great song and in a lovely key for younger voices
