Re: The end or the start - who knows

I remember you making this decision - how can they offer a course and a student not be able to get the benefit of an agent showcase - that doesn't seem fair - or is that common? She can apply herself for representation - maybe contact the agents she got offers from before. Wishing her the best Hi. ...

Re: Sad news about ALRA

So fortunate that Rose Brufford is in a position to step in and help some students at least,
Can’t help thinking it would be good if Manchester School of Theatre at Man Met could do the same.

Re: Arts Ed Principal has resigned following external investigation

The whole drama school system be it MT, Dance or straight Acting needs reform from top to bottom. Students, the majority of whom are 18 are just so grateful to be thexperience things that would never be acceptable in the “outside world”. It is all about power and fear. Fear that if they complain the...

Re: Arts Ed Principal has resigned following external investigation

This is not good for Arts Ed.
It would appear that there is more to come out on this issue.
Time for a review of practices at all Drama Schools, with a view to them becoming more regulated.
My D has been involved in three different drama schools, and there have been issues at each one of them.

Re: Graduating Bristol Old Vic

Hi Rhymie, Well done to your son for graduating, and for securing an agent. If I may be so bold; I would hate to think that people reading here would think that it is almost impossible to secure a good agent unless you have attended a top school. There are plenty of graduates from a wide spectrum of...

I tis so difficult. The staff are trying their best, but with the best will in the world, the students are not getting a good deal.

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

My daughter is in her second year at Manchester School of Theatre, based at Man Met. Having completed the last part of her second year on Zoom, she is really disappointed to have been told yesterday that classes will go back on line. The First years never really got out of the blocks, and have been ...

Re: Investigation into allegations of abuse & grooming at ballet school

Well done indeed to those young people. I am not talking about sexual abuse here, but my daughter was forced to leave her course at a prestigious drama school due to a nervous breakdown. The level of bullying and psychological abuse from one tutor in particular was so severe that she could no longer...

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018

Hi Riverdance, I agree with you that the colleges do take who they want to take. I do feel however that when you talk about boys being accepted who have less "experience" than your son you really mean less talent. Many, many young people work for years to hone their skills etc. You may not...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

HI, BOV do not offer any places until all the auditionS have finished. It will be the end of June/beginning of July before you will know for sure. They do however recall after the initial audition. After the recall you can be placed on the shortlist. From this they make the final choice of 14. They ...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

It is so difficult I agree. Unfortunately, my daughter felt worse at having been placed on the reserve list than on the shortlist. Even though you are technically nearer to getting in, the chances of anybody turning down a place at BOV are slim. I don't think she actually received a no letter, she j...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

My daughter was on the shortlist for BOV, but then was transferred to the reserve list when they made their offers.
Don't know whether this helps. It is very difficult to get a place.

Re: After graduation....

If you go on Arts Ed 2018 graduating year , you will see who represents a lot of their students. There are 5/6 graduating students about to join the new cast of Les Mis. The new Cosette is from Arts Ed, as is her cover. Also Marius and his cover from the same school. Can't remember the name of the a...
