Re: CAT Auditions at The Place, London

My DD is one of the original CAT students, now 20.5 and due to graduate from LCDS (London Contemporary Dance School). She started at 14.5 and went all the way through. Ii can't advise on the current process as obviously it was very different when DD auditioned and the funding funded different things...

Re: What can people tell me about "National Dance Centres"

Trying to be brief about this (haha!!). There are CATS at a number of different venues. They are funded through the governments MDS (Music and Dance Scheme) funding which also funds students at the Royal Ballet School, Tring, Elmhurst, and music schools. Generally students are taken from the age of ...

DADA - Advice for students (and Parents!) needed

Good Evening All!! I have today started a new job as a Personal Tutor to Music, Music Tech and Performing Arts Students at our local College. Re: royal ballet summer school

If you are looking at the White Lodge or Senior one at Covent Garden, I think they select based on teachers recommendations and photographs. The places are very few and far between with about 50% going to students from abroad. I would not think they take beginners. BUT I have never applied for my dd...

Re: A Level/BTEC Diploma

Hi Heather, After having experiance of both courses what are your opinions on them both,is one better than the other or did they each just suit your DD's?[/quote] They really suited each of them. Definately linked to learning styles and the fact that my Musician is a high achieving academic musician...

Re: A Level/BTEC Diploma

Having had one DD go down the A level route and who graduated from Conservatoire 12 months ago and another who went down the BTEC route and about to go into her 3rd year at London Contemporary Dance School, I thought I knew quite alot about the systems. However I have just been offered a job as Pers...

Re: Music Grade Examination Failure

13 is quite a young age to take grade 6 singing but if all your teachers pupils have got lower marks than expected the teacher should consider contacting the board unless it becomes very obvious if there is an issue - as already said, was everything prepared by the teacher for the exam. It is also q...

Re: A LEVELS AND THEN DRAMA SCHOOL ?

Have you looked at The Poor School? I know a student there who has done her first degree - not drama, and is currently there. Very hard course but all the details are on the website and is certainly a possibility for someone with a first degree.

Re: Dance and Drama award

First of all very well done!! Hefce funding is usually for degree's and is the same as for anyone attending a university. Courses such as Central School of Ballet and Rambert where students at 16 are on a degree course are, I think, Hefce funded for example. If your DD has been offered one of the 3 ...

Thank you for all your thoughts, keep em coming!! Passing everything on to her ( as well as looking at the ideas myself!) One of the reasons she was looking at Primary rather than secondary was that she wanted to do the whole performing arts stuff and as she is academically VERY able liked the varie...

Looking for any thoughts, suggestions anyone might have!! In fact her re-contact with so many musical theatre graduates has re-kindled her love of...
