Re: permission refused. is head mistress being unreasonable?

Hi Supamum I know how you feel. It's hard to change schools, and a job to weigh up all the factors. I got some really nice advice from a friend who was a Governor once at the school so I'm going through all the initial channels to log the complaint and I've also called around other local schools to ...

Re: 1st Talent young performers agency

My youngest DD is signed up with them and so are my friends three daughters. They've all had auditions and some work. Nice people, seem very flexible.

Re: permission refused. is head mistress being unreasonable?

I'll download Cheshire leaflet - thanks. Have spent all day writing letter to governors and after reading all the info it's very clear to me now that the Head's excuse that the government has tightened it's policy on absence is a complete redherring. And that the head is interpreting the policy wron...

Re: permission refused. is head mistress being unreasonable?

Wow Begolina! This letter is fantastic- thank you so much. I'm beginning to believe the law is there to give children unique opportunities within a safe environment! And that it has not been scoped to empower Heads to simply deny a child a unique opportunity because "they don't like the idea&qu...

Re: permission refused. is head mistress being unreasonable?

Thank you to Sophiesocks for the information quoted. I've just found the relevant DOE document also online. It's definitely a grey area as it clearly states if the dates are known the head should grant permission, it's where the dates are not known it's at their discretion. More importantly the docu...

Re: permission refused. is head mistress being unreasonable?

Hi Begolina I would love to see the letter. My DD will stay at the School for a few more days until I can get a formal letter to the head and governors. :? DDs daddy too is fuming! The irony is that the head is leaving at the end of term, but it's also the end of the infant school for DD so a new st...

Re: permission refused. is head mistress being unreasonable?

It's really heartening to read all the replies. I felt very badly treated by my DDs school today. Firstly, trying to get a meeting with the head was somewhat tricky! I took advice from the man at the council who issues the licenses and ironically is also the man who fines parents who take their kids...

permission refused. is head mistress being unreasonable?

My dd (6) just got her first contract for a tv commercial. We were all so excited for her. I put in a request for permission to have a day off school for filming and the headmistress replied that permission could not be granted as it is not an 'exceptional' reason and referred me to the school websi...
