YES - definitely get your agent onto the contract before you sign. That's what you're paying her/him for! We've been under a contract with a company spelled D****Y. My take is that, within the law, they will suck your child dry. They own everything for ever, and you will never get your hands on a go...

Thanks for your replies and support:) I think I didn't explain myself clearly - this is his performing arts school, which is what he attends outside of school hours, and this is where the clashes/angst exist. I've never heard of the casting fee, so had no idea they even existed.
DS has often been paid to attend callbacks though.

Our studio does RAD and students take one grade per year. Prior to Grade 3 is 1 lesson per week, Grade 3 and 4 are 2 lessons per week, and I think it moves to 3 lessons per week from Grade 5? (not certain, as we're not yet there). I know my son already finds it slow, and would go crazy if thing move...

What several kids in my local area have done is to take Grade 1 (and do the exam) in the year they are 7, along with the Grade 2 class (because it's way more interesting for them if they are ready for it.)
