Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I think it is difficult to compare as they won’t necessarily be getting the same maintenance amounts (if they have student finance) depending upon the parents income. Martin Lewis has information about this and how much parents should provide. Basically he writes that the child shouldn’t be penalise...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Hi! I'm a student going into training this September but I'm finding it so hard to decide between schools as I haven't been able to visit any except Urdang (I did their pre-audition course). :? I've got into London Studio Centre, Laines and Bird so far and am waiting to hear from Performers and I h...

Re: When you are too tall for theatre... where do you go? Screen??

Hi, you probably know far more by now but I suggest you don’t think only of short term childhood opportunities that he is too tall for. Concentrate on his training and improving his dance. Being passionate about music and continuing with that will help as well and allow future opportunities. In the ...

I hope you can all get some funding. Do you or anyone else have any idea why somewhere would lose this?

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Hello,
I know someone who is applying for a Bodywork DADA. Where can they find out about this?
They have been sent the paperwork for it.

Re: Pauline Quirk Full Time Academy

Hi, I don’t know anyone who has auditioned there but recommend watching their students perform or joining/ observing a class there if you can. Main thing with newer collages is to check you are happy with the standard compared to other colleges.

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

They obviously liked your daughter so go for it! There may well be another scholarship available. I have heard of other colleges giving out scholarships that are never announced or published. Well done to your Dd.

Youth a Production cost advice

Hi, regarding local youth productions that charge the performers to take part, what level of cost do you think is acceptable?
I’m not talking about NYMT, BYMT or residential productions, or any involving professionally trained and experienced directors etc, more the small local groups. Thanks

Re: Spirit or Stagebox ?

Thank you Riverdancefan. I probably shouldn’t have named kids, apologies if I made you or anyone else uncomfortable.

I think the easiest way to explain things is that with the audition only workshops the students generally audition to join them and then audition again for the solos.

Re: Spirit or Stagebox ?

Hi, I have known a quite a lot of kids get solo’s who were not regular kids, some of whom became regular kids afterwards. Several of these same students are now in highly respected full time musical theatre/ dance courses. Take a look at Olivia, Toby, Will and Holly amongst others, who all first att...

Re: Time and cost commitment of local youth theatre groups

I agree! Very much depends upon the group. Some can have a youth club feel with hanging around chatting to friends, and others much more hard working allowing everyone to learn complex routines and harmonies. Both types of group suit different kids and their goals. Regarding costs, in my experience,...

The other option is to do a diploma at a lower level than 6 so he can keep his higher education funding for a sports physio degree later on?

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

That is what I understood as well. It is a shame as it limits the option to study for a new career if things don’t work out.

Re: Btec extended diplomas

Hi, just wanted to add my Ds’s experience. Not MT but music production/tech. He did a BTEC at a local college followed by an extended diploma at another college. He then went to university to convert his qualifications to degree level. He really struggled with the academic part and even the course w...
