Re: What to do with Coat etc in an audition?

It depends on the situation, but often I just leave my bag and coat outside in the waiting room. If there are lots of people waiting it's unlikely to be stolen or anything and I think it's more professional and less awkward than dumping a big coat on the ground in the audition room. I see a lot of p...

Re: Living in London 18+ and acting opportunities

Hi LittleMum, I'm also 18 and this is the advice I've got- hope it helps to share: - has your ds got an agent/got professional credits? It gets MUCH harder to be seen once you fit into the adult category without any credits or been to drama school. This is probably the biggest question to ask in my ...

Yes through agents- quite a few parts in the show but have a feeling they were looking for over licensing if I remember correctly...

Re: We have new headshots - how do we choose?

Another thing I was told was not to necessarily go for the ones that seems the ‘prettiest’ or most ‘handsome’, but rather the photos that show the content of your character and draw eyes with some kind of intrigue.

If they'll be putting her in other clothing for the shoot, then I'd say something comfortable and easy to change from- there can be a lot of waiting around at these things. :)

child/adult agency question

I'm turning 18 very soon and am thinking about the kind of representation I want as I essentially go from child actor to adult actor. I know that I want to go for more grown up work, with an agency that is focused on progression of a few actors, and I've found an agency that seems to have this with ...

Re: Self tapes

My agent always tells me to be doing the accent all the way through an audition, which I know a lot of people do, so I guess you could apply that to self tapes too. It might stop them from over-analysing your accent?

Re: Self tapes?

For self tapes for a song can you record a voice memo or does it have to be a video recording showing them singing? I would always use video. It matters to them what you look like singing because its all part of the performance especially in musicals where the songs 'express the characters feelings...

Re: can anyone explain 'buy outs'?

Digging up an old thread here as it's probs useful to have posts together for people searching like me! Just filmed a commercial with a usage buyout, which was separate to the pay for working the day (forgotten the name for that), and have already received the day fee but not the usage- is this pret...

Re: Acting - an option only for the privileged?

The cost of a good Spotlight photo plus the cost of Spotlight, any acting lessons to keep their work fresh, plus possible singing lessons, dance lessons etc. and it starts to add up. All of this and then when you think about the circles that people from more affluent areas work in as well. We alrea...

Re: Fees to join agency

How old is your DD? If she's still young then why not stick with youth theatre for a bit until she's a bit older, and you can start exploring options for professional acting? From personal experience, I think if you find a really good youth theatre, that's just as great an opportunity as a kid. Ther...

Re: Hero talent agency

With them now! Would highly recommend, they're profile is really growing and I've been getting lots of auditions already, having only signed in April. Nicola is very helpful and understanding, with experience as an actor herself she's very approachable and great for newbies in the industry. Feel fre...
