Re: Does being a boy give you a bigger advantage of getting into a 3 year musical theatre/dance courses?

Oh well this is a nice polarising topic for a Sunday! The boys have a much harder time of it at school, it is completely not socially acceptable In a secondary school environment for teenage boys to sing and dance. Most keep it quiet or have to put up with snide comments and bullying from the less ...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

I must admit this is a question that I keep asking myself at the moment. I'm certain funding will be a lot more difficult to get hold of and not only that do you risk signing up for accommodation which might not be used until next year? ArtsEd have given details of how they see their schooling work...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Congrats to all your DCs who have been offered places! =D> Haven’t been on here much this year as had a few disasters and it was looking like nothing was going to happen for DD (after having got so close so many times.) Last year she had a real problem with her voice and so had to audition very lat...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

The video auditions are due end of next week and they are all very specific. A real pain but she finished them all yesterday (not an easy task in the circumstances) so just got to send them all off today. Thanks for all the love and support on here x Well done to her - so hard to focus at the momen...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

We are still waiting to hear back from Performers (waiting list), on reserve list for Bird and still got 4 more video auditions to do, one of them a recall for Urdang. Stressful doesn't even come into it! Could really do with hearing from Performers to know where we stand with that . Very stressful...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Daughter’s just told me that Wilkes start online tomorrow too, who had heard of zoom before lockdown? Yes DS says GSA going to run fully online this term too. I'm amazed how much the performing arts colleges have managed to do in such a short time. Well done to them all! I had never heard of Zoom e...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Does anyone know if the advanced learner loan might be available for mountview in second and third year? Also DADA finding on government website says the amount students have to contribute to fees rather than how much they get. I am assuming that is based on normal fees of £9,200 rather than Mountv...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

Just reading the Performers degree information and it mentions the year is divided into two semesters. Does this mean there is only two terms or two longer sessions amounting to the same time as other courses? Think it is an odd college thing - some seem to split the year into three "terms&quo...

Re: Auditioning for 2020 entry

That's cheap! We have a friend at Bird this year and she pays £175 a week no food or bills! I was going to say are you sure that’s not per week! My daughter pays £420 with bills at Performers (not food) but some are paying over £500, £250 in Surrey seems unbelievably cheap but would be nice if it’s...

Re: lcm

Mountview is full on. DS had contact hours pretty much from 9 until at least 5pm Monday to Friday for his musical theatre degree. Also small classes - only 38 per year accepted and then split into smaller groups for classes, or 1:1 singing etc. They also get showcased extremely well - three musical...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Thank you kzgirl, I am wondering if we are worrying unnecessarily, I know the whole process is out of our control but very, very frustrating when we are fully prepared and ready to go and someone messes up and I only found that out by chance ,so really I am very annoyed too. Sounds very stressful. I...

Re: lcm

We attended the open day at LCM today. Really liked the university and the surrounding area. I hear good things about the musical theatre course there and graduates are getting jobs. My biggest concern is the number of contact hours. I know it’s a university and not a conservatoire but 12 contact h...
