Re: Seeds of doubt now
I have read this thread with interest as am in similar position. After much agonizing , a lot of research , making a list of pros and cons etc etc my DD has decided not to do A levels much to the horror of some ! She's even turned down a 3 yr course In favour of a foundation course at her favorite c...

Foundation at Laine
Has anybody got any experience of the Foundation course at Laine ? Laine is my DDs first choice - partly due to reputation but also just a gut feeling at the audition. She has actually had a three year offer somewhere else which she was going to accept as that seemed the sensible thing to do but we ...

Re: What to do with academic Dd?!
Hi there . We are in a similar situation . My DD is in year 11 and about to do GCSEs for which she is predicted high grades . She has also auditioned this year and has an offer from Bird. We are still undecided about whether she should go now or wait til 18. Having said that we are not so concerned ...

Training at 16 or 18 ?
After hours of discussion, research and some sleepless nights my DDs decision about going now at 16 ( she has just received a 3 yr diploma offer from Bird ) or waiting til 18 has boiled down to which is the best option career wise, as in chances of actually getting a job after the three years traini...

Converting diploma to degree
Does anyone know anything about converting a MT diploma to a degree specifically at Bird? My DD is 16 and very excited to have just been offered a place on the diploma course . Our worry is not having A levels as back up or being able to do the degree course but on the website it says you can do an ...

Re: hearing from Bird
Thanks for your reply. She has an offer of a foundation course at Laine , a diploma at a smaller less well known college and is waiting to hear from Performers . She liked both Laine and Bird equally but of course knows they are particularly hard to get in to. Yes it would be useful if anyone has a 1...

hearing from Bird
Does anybody know about how long it takes to hear after the Bird audition ? I know a couple of people did get offers on the day but am presuming there are more places offered than that ? Also does anyone have any experience of Bird as a place to train in general . Obviously it has a very good reputa...

Re: Monologues for audition for diploma MT
Yes I think that's what I heard. However it is quite difficult to do a monologue with American phrases and slang in without slipping into the accent so that's why I was thinking a British play would be easier . However I guess it wouldn't really matter. Thanks for everyone's help .

Monologues for audition for diploma MT
My daughter needs a monologue for an upcoming audition but it doesn't state whether it should be contemporary or classical , just not longer than one minute . It is difficult to know what to choose .... I've been told or heard somewhere it should be age appropriate and preferably not with an accent ...

Laine Foundation course at 16
Does anybody have any experience of the Foundation course at Laine and in particular whether a high proportion of students then go onto the diploma course ? My daughter has been offered this and as she loved the college and is only 16 it seems tempting . She has another offer of a place on a 3 year ...
