Re: can you help with music please
Sorry Steffymum, I called you by the wrong name ! Glad your dd's teacher sounds like she knows what she's doing. My dd has 3 different music teachers for As Music and none of them seem to know what the other ones are doing !!

Re: can you help with music please
My dd was told to stick to opera for her GCSE and now AS Level exams, as they said that she would automatically get considerably better marks because they are considered to be so much more difficult to do well. (which of course they are really to be fair) So they've talked her out of doing anything ...

Re: song for sound of music audition
That's wonderful ! Well done to your dd. And isn't it a relief when they just tell them what they want them to sing. Wishing her the very best of luck for the next round of the auditions.

Re: Agents for 17 year old
Hi Tikka, The agency my dd is with ( Abacus) has a young perfomer section, which is for those over licence age. Although tbh they're not exactly beating our door down with auditions at the moment, the lady did tell me that they are very busy at the moment, so that doesn't necessarily mean that it wo...

Re: Les Mis Film Cast Announced
Adult Cosette has to be able to sing doesn't she ? Don't tell me Emma Watson can do that too. Is there nothing that girl can't do ?!

Re: Les Mis Film Cast Announced
I think Thalias Dad that there's usually a little Cosette and an adult Cosette. So the little Cosette plays the part of her when she was younger. They would get a little girl who looks like the adult actress I'd imagine. I've never actually seen the show though so correct me if I'm wrong folks !

Re: Help
Hi mum of my two stars, Wonderful that your dd's healthy now and the very best of luck to her ! My dd is with Abacus agency if that's of any interest to you. It's in the Surrey area, although you only have to go there for the audition really and people seemed to travel from quite a distance for that...

Re: Paying for your child to be in panto?
I suppose it's a bit like paying to be in a Youth Theatre Project. I know a lot of people complain about paying the fee for the ones my dd has performed in, but the fee goes nowhere near the amount it costs to put on the production. The costs of which run into thousands ! The theatre never manages t...

As Level Drama Helpful books to read?
Hi, My dd who is just starting As Level drama has been set her first essay today and I wondered if anyone might be able to suggest any books which might be useful. The teacher is threatening to shoot herself if she gets 15 identical google essays ! The essay title is 'What is Theatre'? Any suggestio...

Re: How do you know if they are "good enough"?
I can really empathise with you Amanda. My dd is also awaiting GCSE results next week and is hoping to return to 6th form to do A levels. She has her sights set on a career as a perfomer, either Opera or Musical Theatre and as much as I want to encourage her, I'm aware of how much competition there ...

Re: making a child cry in the name of Drama!!
I was really interested to learn that there are child protection guidelines regarding this now Paulears, as I've wondered before about what they have done to make a child cry for tv sometimes. There was an advert for the NSPPC i think it was, with a little boy in a cot with tears streaming down his ...

Re: song for sound of music audition
Personally I wouldn't go for 'There are worse thing I can do, as it's about as opposite character wise as you could get I should think. My dd's had a couple of main parts in local MT productions, and we've learned that they've not seemed to be able to imagine her performing anything other than they ...

Re: song for sound of music audition
Ha ha, I did think I was stating the obvious, but I just thought I'd mention it incase. Sounds like you have it pretty well covered Steffysmum ! Will she try to go for something in the same sort of vane ? Ie something young, gauche, sincere, rather than a dramatic or funny one ? I can see why you're...

Re: song for sound of music audition
Have they said they don't want them to auditon with songs from the SOM ? I was thinking I would probably get her to learn the 16 going on 17 song to be on the safe side, as even if they don't want it at the first auditon, she might not get long to learn it if she gets a quick recall.

Thank you v much for the info. My dd is sixteen Saphire. I didn't realise until yesterday that there is also a CCP as well. Maybe I would be better looking at that one ?
