Re: Qualifications to aim for
Guess it depends on your strengths and possible career paths. A levels tend to suit 'essay writers' and you need to be happy taking exams. BTECs are continuous assessment so you have to be happy knowing that all classwork, assignments and performances are assessed and having a bad day could reduce y...

Re: Qualifications to aim for
This is the scary side - you do NOT want to be in a group with people like this, because perf arts and music is hard work, and with uni places being more available, supply wise - are they too taking people who maybe four years ago would never have got passed the paperwork stage? Absolutely agree wi...

Re: Drama School Application 2013
Thanks Caroline. It all sounds very expensive. At least with the gov student loan you don't pay it back if you don't earn much money, but paying up front without a loan sounds a bit painful. Hope he is enjoying the course.

Re: Drama School Application 2013
Hi Trying to get my head round all this! Sorry to sound so dense but there's a lot to take in. Have I got it right so far? To do an Acting Degree you can go to a University or a drama school, but its preferable to go to an accredited drama school if you are to stand a chance of working as an actor. ...

Re: Drama School Application 2013
Thanks pg. was a bit worried that it could be a non starter as he doesn't sing or dance - just acts (a lot!). Think a few singing lessons would come in useful!

Re: Drama School Application 2013
Ds is also thinking of applying for 2013 and I know nothing about the process, apart from the great advice on here. He wants to do an Acting Degree and would like to try for some of the acredited courses. I'm a bit worried about how much you need to be able to sing and dance as well as act. If you g...

Re: Agency help
Hi You could always phone them to ask if they received your application and to ask if they are currently recruiting. I know people will say not to pester them, but I don't think a quick call would do any harm, and at least that way you would know what to do next! We are in Bristol and the nearest ag...

Yes, good ideaCoco wrote:Sessions for those applying for drama schools and music colleges would be very useful to us. We could do with help finding appropriate monologues and someone to work on it with dd. Also interview technique etc.

Re: Where should we hold these workshops
Something covering the SW would be nice. There's lots of performance stuff around Bristol and Bath but auditions etc are nearly always in London and that's an expensive trek. We don't even have any local Agents!

Re: web links - self promotion
There are some big changes to the site coming soon which will hopefully address a lot of these issues. Please keep the suggestions coming though and we will endeavour to accommodate as many as possible. Great, and a big thankyou to all the hard workers behind the scenes that keep this site running,...

Re: 2012 DRAMA SCHOOL APPLICATIONS
DD knows peole who went to RB and enjoyed it. Its a lovely campus - really idyllic, reminded me of some country estate like a in a Jane Austen novel :) Lovely place to spend 3 years studying and still close to London :) Congratulations! Bath Spa campus is like that too, absolutely idyllic, you'd ex...

Re: web links - self promotion
Perhaps a new section that has links to useful professional stuff, like the pod casts, info on DADAs, accredited drama courses etc etc. I love reading about what all the kids are doing and seeing you tube clips and blogs etc....perhaps i was feeling a bit grumpy when I started this thread.....so I w...
