Re: dressing up for the audition
I think that would be very wrong to go to an audition dressed with a suit if the character is a chav. However, I wouldn't go to the extent of dressing exactly for the part. I have seen a little girl dress as Dorothy for an agent workshop audition because she was going to sing Over the Rainbow as her...

Re: Clashing offers?
I always stick to my word (and I did loose few trains) but I tend to be more flexible with other people situations. If your child is been working hard for years, done always everything correctly, has a very strong working ethos, etc. you might get to the conclusion that it might happen one occasion ...

Re: Hard work or talent?
There was an interesting article yesterday on the Evening Standard stating “ We have this myth that if you work hard you can accomplish anything. It’s true for a lot of people but you need other things to succeed, you need luck, opportunity and the life skills to recognise what an opportunity is.” P...

If it is a life changing role we talk about, couldn't you just say goodbye to the VO agent, I am sure that the company has plenty of substitutes and you don't let anyone down.

My dd is with their agency but not in the school. I wouldn't be able to pay any indipendent school.

It might well be that they let you know nearer the time. I am sure that Jessica Ronane calls and give a chance to every single boy that fits the specs. In case drop an email later on.

Re: Bonnie and Betty
I think LovelyChloe's post is straightforward but polite. She doesn't really do any accusation. The question "Is this a scam" has appeared lots of time and it is a legittimate question, especially if asked politely. It looks to me that her intentions were very genuine: to share her concern...

You might want consider also how much does it cost and how time consuming it will end up. If is not of a good standard might be counterproductive. If you just want to keep update a large number of family and friends on your dd latest news, you could think to use something like twitter (if she has be...

Thanks for the head up, TalyaB. I presume the boy should have a bit of high pitch voice, that would rule out my ds.

Re: Why is everything last minute?
I really can't believe it, Deb. I really thought only in tv/theatre/film industry there was this sort of exploitation (as far as I knew only journalists were expecting to work for free, at least in Italy, for the "privilege" to be a journalist - my experience).

Re: Why is everything last minute?
I couldn't agree more. I think partially is our fault, we jump obstacles of all kind to make it happen and somehow, at the end, they have a child on set (if he/she is not your one, after all you did, they can't care less). It is the same thing for unpaid work, adult actors after years of very expens...
