Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

Maybe later audition slots were not cancelled? Good that they rescheduled your DS's straightaway but I feel for all those affected this week by the tube strikes - especially those trying to get to auditions or whose auditions were postponed both for college places or for shows. Good luck to your DS ...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

LizzyBee - there are 55 now - slightly more girls than boys. In her set there are 8 boys and 10 girls; similar numbers in the other two sets.

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

Regarding ArtsEd - DD is in her first year at ArtsEd and she says in her view everyone is a good singer/actor - good technique - and can take direction. But they are all shapes and sizes, all ethnicities, all ages and include some very strong and versatile dancers. At 18 she is one of the youngest -...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

I'm not sure you can equate Foundation offers with Degree offers from previous years or even this year to be honest. DD's friend has just had a degree offer at GSA but a Foundation offer from Urdang. Another has a reserve offer. Another was asked to complete Foundation forms on the day of his degree...

Re: Wilkes Academy

Wilkes sounds a great fit for your DD. And it sounds as though she's been well supported through a difficult time. We know others on the diploma course who are very happy there and I think that's so important - it's not just about the quality of training. It might still be worth attending the other ...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

Lovely to read of the early offers. It's such a confidence boost to them. Congratulations! We went though it last year (all recordings and online interview etc) and it's all worth it when your dc get into the college of their dreams! There's a lot of mutual support on here and I found the site reall...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

Well done to those getting early offers! So pleased for them as it takes some strain off the whole audition process! Great news! =D>

Re: Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD)

DD had a recall for the degree at Royal Welsh last year - she liked the whole process and got very positive feedback. She wasn't offered a place - they were very complimentary but said the course wasn't right for her. But her friend was. Friend had a lot of professional experience in acting and a gr...

Re: Arts Ed Principal has resigned following external investigation

I'm very pleased and proud that my daughter attends ArtsEd. Hats off to them for engaging an external team to thoroughly investigate historic allegations, sorting the truth from the gossip from those years and having a clear plan in place to ensure no repetition of inappropriate conduct of any descr...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

I think the best advice is just to let your DD audition and see where she gets offers. Her college choices are very different, the size of their intakes very different and the courses they offer are very different. Maybe she is not yet sure of the direction she wishes to take. Competition is tough a...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

Emil Dale charge an additional £4000 a year top up for their 6th Form course - although in principle that covers the additional classes not the actual BTEC. There was no one in DD's year who opted out of this. I can't imagine anyone thinking of doing so. It's the additional provision that makes the ...

Re: Auditioning for 2022 entry

I would honestly say audition to everywhere you are interested in if at all affordable and feasible. Few students get offers from every college they apply for. Bird Urdang Performers accept more students than other colleges so more of a chance of getting in perhaps- but take nothing for granted. Be ...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I echo previous comments wishing all our DC well for the start of their degree or diploma courses and hoping they'll have a smoother ride this year. DD is in the middle of a fun but expensive Freshers Week at ArtsEd. They seem to be making up for lost celebration times! She loves her flat and flat m...

Re: West End Kids

DD was with WEK for seven years (six of which were in Troupe). She performed all over the UK at some great gigs, learned much about the MT industry and was very much pushed as a performer. She had to leave during lockdown when she could no longer give it the 100% commitment they demand. Leeds is a n...
