Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I don't really understand why people hold onto offers when they've made a decision either. Can understand when they are still working out funding or wanting to visit as it's a big decision. But it is a tad annoying when there is a mutual friend waiting on a possible place!

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Lovely to hear of more offers. DD's best friend is still waiting on her Urdang recall too. Three other girls have not yet turned down their offers there despite accepting elsewhere - so there must surely be more movement later too. Not sure of the deadline for turning down. Good luck to all!

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

The Emil Dale process was rather strange this year. A couple of girls and lads who auditioned early were offered places. A very few got straight no's. However, EDA was not a first choice for any of the current BTEC 2s even though they've enjoyed being there for the 6th form. EDA later offered a larg...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

I take my hat off to your dd Startinglate for making a very difficult decision herself - but I am sure it is the right one for her. She'll have the time to research and visit - and may well find her aims and ambitions change over her final years at school. Our DD's did. The college she would have ai...

Re: What size is First Year Diploma/Degree for the various colleges?

ArtsEd have told DD 50 - but stretch to 52 - half boys and half girls - but there is closer to 60 in their current first year as they took in more boys. Emil Dale is similar -around 50 currently on the chat. About a third boys and two thirds girls. For their BTEC we'd been told no more than 43 but D...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Given that we've heard of a couple of people getting phone calls from Sarah Carroll at Laine this week, some DADA offers must be going out now. We gather that ArtsEd funding decisions are being finalised this week too. Anxious times! 8-[

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

It might not be as straight forward as one college being more dance based and one being more MT (singing/acting). College course structures and content change and what's been happening over the past 18 difficult months might not be indicative of a college's way forward. Nearly all colleges have repr...

Have a look at West End Kids Vocal Studio Programme too. Can recommend - very good healthy singing techniques. Has expanded recently.

Re: Are many colleges still online this term?

DD's college has returned fully to face to face teaching for 6th form (BTEC), Gap Year and Degree since March 8th. They were fully face to face during the Autumn term but various" bubbles" were affected and therefore some students had to be online - very few in fact went the whole autumn t...

Re: Dada funding for 2021/2022

Thank you for clarifying this. Interesting list. Wonder if any extra money will be available at those colleges for musical theatre! (I doubt if all those courses are classed as world class!) Sadly there are already colleges cutting contact hours or having to charge top up fees to ensure a high level...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Just wondering if anyone else has had a degree offer from ArtsEd and has heard anything about funding - bursaries, scholarship or DADAs? DD still waiting on that as well as Laine info. Also - just out of interest - does anyone know why the ArtsEd Foundation course is funded by student finance (with...

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry

Ah thank you for explaining about the Foundation course funding at ArtsEd. That makes sense. Maybe other colleges will try to follow suit to secure the loans for their students. Four of DD's friends are now accepting their foundation offers (MT and Acting) now they know it is mostly covered by a loa...

Re: Urdang AVT 2021

Just wanted to share a thought about AVT. Friend whose dd is on AVT currently messaged last night as there's been a lot of upset. She said only two AVT students have been offered the degree, a couple diploma and a few waiting list. Her dd is devastated. No offer at all - despite getting Laine and Pe...
