Re: New Spotlight and Equity membership criteria
Confusion over Spotlight arises because *children's* agents CAN get clients on Spotlight in the Young Performers section. It's different for adult performers (and absolutely, any decent agent will want their clients to be Spotlight eligible). That's really interesting - I didn't know that (only eve...

Re: New Spotlight and Equity membership criteria
You're not wrong....which is why I was saying that I think that it'll be a great thing for training in the long run if the criteria gets policed. I'm clearly biased on the 22 number as that's the number of one of year groups, so I know from experience that it's a nice manageable number.

Re: New Spotlight and Equity membership criteria
In truth I think that Spotlight are the only ones able to answer those questions. I can't imagine for one moment that they'd pull away the right to membership to existing colleges (although their guidelines are brilliant, so I sincerely hope that they're policed). IMHO it's going to hit the uni cour...

Re: New Spotlight and Equity membership criteria
No an agent can't get them onto Spotlight, the onus is still on the performer to get the credits/training. I know that I had an email exchange last year with an agent who had tried to get their client onto Spotlight, but Spotlight weren't budging on their criteria. As a result the performer did lose...

Re: New Spotlight and Equity membership criteria
I'm so pleased that this has been posted. I would really urge all you parents out there to study the new criteria, as it has the potential to make a huge difference to your child's future prospects. Apologies if you all know this already....however I know that I wouldn't have understood this prior t...

Re: Agent or Drama School
What a great dilemma to have. As one of the initiators for #time4change - I guess I'm bound to offer a different take on this, insomuch as a good drama school training isn't only about enhancing the skill set - but rather facilitating a 'life tool kit' if you like which will see your DC through thei...

Still looking for 2017?
If you are still looking for this year...or indeed just doing your research for a few year's down the line. I'll be holding a live online Q&A over on the book of face https://www.facebook.com/events/1897489260493827/ on 30th March. It might be a good opportunity to dispel some myths, but most im...
Re: MTA
Hi Dodger's Mum (and thank you lbm1e14 for such an amazing review. I'm pleased that you like the way that your dd's training is going. Funding is definitely an issue, however we've always managed to sort something out with successful applicants, so (easier said than done I know) I wouldn't worry abo...

The MTA Experience 16 yrs and over
Feel free to delete either of my posts if they break any rules. However for the first yr ever we're opening up our 'Experience' to UK students. In a nutshell it's like a mini MTA course. Taught by the same tutors (including our senior faculty), with the highlights being 3 West End workshops followed...

Re: Uni graduates v. drama school graduates
Let him audition and then if he's successful start a dialogue with the college. I can't speak for the others, but we've always made it work. . . somehow. Nobody should be prevented a vocational training course purely for financial reasons. I think that you might be surprised at how flexible some of ...

Re: Uni graduates v. drama school graduates
Please don't misquote me - I said that a degree will not get you a performing job - your talent will. Training is imperative too (except in exceptional circumstances). This is about taking a punt on £27K which most people can't afford to do. If you're having to look for the same again (and a lot mor...
