Re: Doctor's letter

Oh that seems so unfair! My ds is also filming a FF abroad this month and my GP just signed it straight away and charged me £15, it was classed as a "fit to work" letter. Hope you get it sorted, when is he due to travel?

Re: Screen test

Is this for a film role or an agency? Sounds like a long audition!

Re: Licensing

Oh poor lad - those stories are so sad. I agree re getting to know your LEA and the person is responsible for producing the licence, it makes a big difference. Please know that not all LEA's are able to turn them round overnight though - my LEA always says 7 working days - they almost always get it ...

Re: Licensing

My children all have agents but I have always tended to end up sorting the licence. The production company is required to be more involved now than they used to be a couple of years ago but unless they are used to working with children they are likely to be fairly clueless! (sorry to the few that ar...

Re: Stage School

My daughter goes to a performing arts 6th form and they are all furious about this and the impression it gives. Just so awful to make it look so shallow and spiteful! dd says her school is the most supportive environment she has ever been in and it is so sad that they will all be judged on the likes...

Re: Wardrobe fittings.

It is usually just a case of trying on a few outfits and getting the director to decide which one they like. You will likely get to meet others you will work with, which is nice :) It is all very informal and usually fairly quick - good luck and well done!

Re: Commercial License, 16 year old?

Yes I agree with that 2girlsmum, that's how it worked for 2 of mine, no licence needed if going into year 12 or above, we did still have to have it OK'ed by school though, good luck!

Re: International licences

Great you got it sorted. We have had a few international licences and I have had to go into court at Bow Street and swear on a bible that I will bring them back haha ;) Seems bizzarely archaic really. Like Panda, our police had no idea at all what to do with this and about 3 months after our first j...

Re: Auditioning for 2017

Count us in too. My DD will be auditioning for Sept 2017 entry. MT is her first love so will be auditioning for those types of courses. She has finished her 1st year of 2yr BTEC Extended Level 3 course in Musical Theatre at a local college and she also attends a part time Performing Arts school. Sh...

My dd1 just finished the first year at Guildhall, also an excellent school but very very competitive - Drama Centre is another good one

Re: Newbie with no idea where to start!

Some fair and accurate points made by Lynne, but getting some experience from short films and low paid jobs can be valuable, especially if your dd is hoping to take it all further post 16. KCCP is pretty good for this, have you set her up on there? You get a free month I believe. Good luck!

Re: How to film a Self Tape

Great idea - we do a lot nowadays. Can I also add that if you are using your iphone (I do) or iPad be sure you have it in landscape (with auto lock off) otherwise you will have a long thin recording in the centre of the screen. Also, another method of sending is to upload to the Youtube app/ Youtube...

One of my daughters is with them too, having moved from a very well respected agency, and they are lovely - very hard working and committed :)
