Henry iv part ii

I wondered if any NAPM's had a DS performing tonight in Newcastle with the RSC? If so just wanted to say what a good job he did, true professional throughout and clear to hear. It led to hubby reminiscing back to late 70s when he did 11 performances with RSC in Measure for Measure, and his close fri...

Re: School absence for castings/auditions

Totally true Riverdancefan. And in my experience the legal side is not communicated to schools at all, so Head are making decisions blind on the legality. Even where the council is encouraging time off, the guidance is seen by the £14k pro rata (holidays not paid) administrator who may not have the ...

Re: School absence for castings/auditions

Just to clarify my earlier post - In our school Code B would be used for performances and code C for auditions. But DD's school uses code C for both. Since neither trigger Educational Welfare visits or fines, and i don't belive in sending my DCs to school when they are sick so they stand little chan...

Re: School absence for castings/auditions

Code c would be authorised absence and reducing attendance percentage, in the same way code m for hospital appointments does. If your child is there at registration and then leaves they get their mark for having been there at registration. Your DC should be on the Gifted & Talented Register and ...

Re: Casting Director workshop - York - August 2014

When i went into the big room for q&a my dd was too busy talking to a little boy to notice me, and has been full of chatter on the way home about all the fun she had. I found Jo and Jeanette fascinating and also entertaining to listen to. Thanks so much Jayne for organising today, it was great. ...

Re: Children and busking(for love not money!)

I was in York in September and saw a young girl singing very well, I didn't realise she would have had to audition to get permission but it obviously keeps the standard high. I liked too the fact her family were with her, made her look very well looked after. From a discussion a while ago with a col...

Re: Spotlight pages

It's a lot of money for you (not the agent) to pay each year and if you think the site looks neglected then won't a cd think the same? If f's agent changed profile pictures for one role that first impression must be important.

Matilda & Charlie

As part if this week's school trip to London, my 13 year old saw Matilda on Wednesday and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Thursday. She loved them both. She was very impressed with the way the children coped with a technical hitch in Matilda. Full energy Revolting Children suddenly stopped, chi...

Watching auditions

This week I saw DD audition for the first time ever. It had never occurred to me that I watch her practise and prepare audition songs and speech and then never actually see myself how she does. By the time she's on stage it's after weeks of rehearing, in costume & makeup etc. It was improvisatio...

Re: Fort Boyard auditions?

We were asked to get the school to sign their form and bring it to the audition, though they would have accepted it after if TIGHT deadline could be met. That said, there were over 600 kids applying for something like 20 or 25 places, and when they say sporty & fearless they do mean it. I think ...
