Re: Summer courses
I think there's one at Bristol old Vic school and DD enjoyed GSA summer school ( but she did MT) I think the globe would probably be great but possibly expensive? The GSA one they live on campus and see a show in London - it was really good - I think it was 2 weeks but some stayed for an extra week ...

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought
If he's a good dancer I would still audition at Urdang. He could live slightly further out plus halls can be more expensive than renting a room so he might find something within price range not that far away. DD has a friend there and he is on a tight budget but manages okay. If he did a bit of summ...

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought
Hi The £1000 extra for Bird is payable over the 3 years. We pay £33.33 a month direct debit. This is for Headshots, Physio, costumes etc. A great college to go to. Yep I said we also pay per month and a similar charge is made at other colleges. It's just worth mentioning as it was not something I k...

Re: UCLAN and Cumbria for MT
Check contact hours and graduate destinations. The hours of training don't always match MT colleges. But it depends on what you want to do afterwards teaching or performing.

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019
Have a bit of a dilemma going on and wondered if anyone had any advice or been in a similar situation? DD has decided to do Foundation this year as wants to reapply for BA at her preferred schools again next year. She got a Foundation recall audition from MV after her BA audition but we haven’t as ...

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018
The argument about girls v boys, experience v no experience and looks will always pop up x I just went to my dd’s first public performance at The Hammond and I was very interested to see how different everyone seemed. The type of songs they had chosen and the different tones of voice, characters th...

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought
That's good to know about urdang funding. That top up was always a worry when DD was auditioning. Worth noting that there can be some extra money to pay separate to the fees. At Bird it's approx £1000 We are paying this by standing order over the whole course period at about £30 per month. This is f...

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018
When DD auditioned there were examples of offers to students on their look / type over how good they were for sure. It's that thing we have discussed before about them "casting" a cohort. I think this is more likely when they take a smaller amount of students. She just thought there were o...

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought
Don't worry about London. DD at Bird pays less rent than my student DD in Brighton. Bird and Rose Bruford have halls (as do others of course) or you can flat share for reasonable rent. Transport in London is good too with night buses if they go out late at the weekend. In terms of auditions it depen...

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018
Wow! I was not meaning my comments to cause such a problem. I was merely saying what the situation was for my DS when he got his place. He was told on the day that he was "trainable". He has worked continuously since graduating in 2014 both in the West End and touring so his lack of danci...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019
Might be worth mentioning that some of the colleges have formed an alliance. I think it's called AMTC. If you are planning to audition then at least one of these colleges should probably be on your list. Good luck to those going into audition time. Stay well x

Re: BA MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR SEPT 2018
Think it is worth remembering that all these colleges are looking for POTENTIAL that they can train. After all, isn't it the job of the colleges to train their students. It is an advantage to have dance/singing/acting experience but you don't have to have studied since you were in nappies. DS had v...

Re: 'Best fit' schools/colleges post 18?
Degree at Bird definitely has written work expectations. DD had to work on an assignment over Christmas. It's not just a token, it was a good level of challenge.
