Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

I have been following this fab website and amazing post for so long and FINALLY managed to set up my account so I can post myself. The information I have gained from here during my DD’s journey has been invaluable, she regularly tells me I should write my own blog from everything I now know that a ...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

My DD got offered Foundation at Bird & Performers last year and chose Performers. Looking back she said she wasn't ready at the time of auditioning having now done 6 months of full time Pre-Voc training. She says that the Pre Voc students at Performers work at the same pace if not harder than th...

Re: Fully funded BA MT Sept 2020 - Advice sought

I think The Brighton Academy has built up a good reputation. They have some Open Days coming up I believe and auditions are free!! I am from Brighton so know it well, good city for youngsters, easy to get around and lots to do. The fees are much less at TBA. I have asked my DD to go along to an Open...

Re: Split-soled ballet shoes

My DD was always told to have fully soled ballet shoes at that age - she has now gone on to college at 16 and they have split soled ballet shoes. I think the dance shop may be correct, that she needs the strength in the sole. Still, we have often seen girls aged 8/9 going on to Pointe at some dance ...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18

Congratulations. Universal Credit obviously hasn't been rolled in yet within Guidford Borough Council - £80 a week would make a huge difference for us but not eligible within Thurrock Council. However if we as a family were in receipt of any benefits, our DD would be entitled - but we're not. Will h...

Re: Why.. Can anyone help please

I find this site very helpful. It is not a place to put up castings/auditions if that is what LoveMusicals is after - but will point in the right direction as to where to look for them.

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18

Update for Universal Credit - not eligible as under 18 years of age and with Parental Support. This is for Thurrock Council. Quite gutted as to find a further £490.00 per month for accommodation costs plus extra to send DD is going to put us under a lot of strain. i guess the Government expects us p...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18

This is on Gov.uk website. By reading it if you have parental support (which all of our kids have) then it probably won't be paid. Although our kids have our support, Housing Benefit whilst on a Foundation Course would really help us as accommodation costs are so high on top of the cost of the cours...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18

I have applied for my DD - she moves in to her accommodation (host family) on 15th Sept. I have only had to send copy evidence such as a copy of her birth certificate and National Insurance - it states no appointment necessary, though that may come later. The online form was very lengthy and redirec...

Re: Auditioning for SEPT 2018

URGENT! Is anyone going to Bird still looking for accommodation?? We have a 3 bed flat newly refurbished reserve paid & secured within 20 mins walk, but unfortunately one has had to pull out for personal reasons. If we're unable to find a 3rd tenant within the next day or two we will loose prop...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Gosh, 11 college auditions is a lot!! If your DD is happy to go to any of the colleges if accepted then go for it. I'd also recommend going to the CDET conference and on to the showcase in the evening. We went last year and it really helped my DD choose the places she wanted to audition at - all be ...

Re: Housing benefit for BTEC and Foundation 16-18

I started an application off in preparation for September as my DD will be on a Foundation Course. The answer came back that it would be Universal Credit that she applies for but it is too early at the moment to complete an application. I am guessing then that she will get called in to an interview ...
