Re: Help about open castings and auditions !
Welcome! You are quite right that there is an interesting thread on the subject of head teachers and licensing which might help you to help your school with its thinking. There are also threads about all the west end roles where children are seen through open auditions, so I suggest you put your fee...

Re: permission refused. is head mistress being unreasonable?
I had a dig around but I can find the thread - I think it may have been archived. It might be worth a PM to supamum or begolina - I have a feeling that they were involved and might recall the debate. There was even an awrsome letter shared that set out all the background to the regulations etc - it ...

Re: permission refused. is head mistress being unreasonable?
One of the NAPMs went through this just a few months ago and - through diligent research - worked out that its not up to the Head Teacher. It's the LEA that issues the license. I wish I could remember who or when it was that this was discussed on here, but if you search 'licenses' or scan back throu...

Re: Musical theatre for boys
Nothing to do with MT at weekends, but when my girls did the Act2Cam film camp a couple of years ago I noticed there were more boys around. So if your DS fancies working in film as well as theatre, you might want to take a look at their holiday courses too. Steve from Act2Cam posts on here, so I'm s...

Re: Musical theatre for boys
Doesn't Sylvia Young do a weekend school? I have no idea what the boy:girl ratio would get there.
In my experience, boys are in a minority everywhere so I hope you manage to find somewhere to suit him with more boys involved.

Hear hear!pg wrote:the problem... might be solved by more women running theatres, writing plays, commissioning programmes, writing screenplays, becoming producers etc - or by persuading those who currently have influence to include more roles for women to more accurately represent society.

Re: dressing up for the audition
Following on from francescasmum's comment, maybe we should start a trend of always dressing as the character? I mean the mums (or dads) dressing up, not the kids. Then we would have no difficulty spotting the other NAPMs in the waiting room

Re: Seeking Fantastic Young Singers
Flo is suddenly going ballistic about this. Seems its a hot topic on Instagram. I think I remember reading good reviews of Spirit's workshops, so she may well take the plunge and audition. I videoed her singing 'Falling Slowly' at a gig last Friday, but apparently (according to Flo) that's not the r...

My DD is represented by Abacus. In our experience they don't open their books very often, but they do keep your details on file and - if they want to meet you - they'll get in touch when they do.
