Re: Is a DaDA only for dance? Any info re Tring scholarships?

Francescasmum - I know! At first I read 11k per year and thought blimey that's a lot but perhaps .. with help from grandparents etc. Then I read again. As DH has just handed in his notice at work and decided to take early retirement we won't even earn 11k per year ;) But.. other places are even more...

Is a DaDA only for dance? Any info re Tring scholarships?

Hi all, suspect this may have been covered before but I've had a search and can't see the answer. Looking at Tring 6th form for DS but £11k per term is out of the question for us. Thought he might get a DaDA as we are very low income but when I've printed the application form it says DaDA is for the...

Re: LIPA 6th Form?

Couldn't agree more! Am in fortunate position of being able to live in Liverpool with DS while he's there. I wonder if there might be a need for a sort of shared/supervised house. Just a thought. Thanks for your reply.

Re: Chaperone work - Uk chaperone service

My DS's agent is always offering to get me chap work. She often helps out finding chaps for production companies. Have you thought of speaking to your DC's agent? Even if they don't get involved they may have an idea.

Re: Best dancewear suppliers - older boy / young man sizes

Like Hecouldshine I suspect you'll find this tricky. Best bet is to find an online with a good returns policy. When DS was dancing we had trouble. Might be worth calling the school - they may have access to something like the IDS catalogue? Or if he's already at a dance school ask the teacher? Sorry...

Re: Embarrasing Parents - (not performing types)

Last year I and two friends went to see The Full Monty in Sheffield. We all loved the film so we thought we'd enjoy the show. The 3 of us were surrounded by a huge group of middle aged woman (and I say that as a middle aged woman myself) who came to the theatre armed with carrier bags full of Lidl v...

Re: 16 year old - Out of licensing - any time limits on set?

So, how does it work that under 18s can't work more than 8 hours a day but kids under licence at say, 14, can work for 9.5? Or are we only counting filming time as 'working' not being on set?

Re: Scream or Top Talent

Repeat of my previous post: My DS is with Scream - has been for 5 years. Some people have issues with the annual charge (about £25 I think) and the 'refresher workshops' which are twice a year and are £22 but the % they take seems to compare quite well with other agents. In 5 years DS has worked for...

Re: Agency Recommendations list

I would 2nd MelanieC123's vote for Scream. Whilst not perfect (they have an annual 'admin' fee of £25 which many disapprove of) my DS joined them 5 years ago when he was 9. Since then he's worked for: Nick Jnr, CBBC, Sky, CITV, BBC Radio 4, BBC Education, The Royal Exchange Theatre and, currently, D...

Re: Terrible standards of chaperoning

Being a chaperone mum is a hard balancing act. You have to make sure things are right for your child but you don't want to end up with a 'moaning minny' label. I chaperoned my DS for 14 weeks this year and production often tried it on - even suggesting at one point that they put us in a taxi and we ...

Daisyjane I'm pleased to hear that you liked Maia. This really struck a chord with my DS so I emailed her several days ago - I've heard nothing. I think that's a little bit rude really. :(

Re: Hosting on acting resume?

Hi,

Firstly, without wishing to apprear patronising, it's M.C. - as in 'Master of Ceremonies'. Might look better this way?

Second - I don't really know but would have thought it would be OK to put on your CV as it shows you can address a large audience.

Hope that's of some help :D
