Re: September 2015
I have been reading the posts on here over the last few weeks and I really feel for all of you and your DCs going through this. A couple of months ago my 17 yo, maths genius DD announced she wants to act! I am one year away from all this having, up to now, been looking at courses for actuaries and a...

Re: Lack of information from agent re understudy job.
I always want to know how much my DS is getting paid (and so does he!). No it's not all about money but we spend a fortune travelling to auditions, getting headshots etc so earning pay some of this back. Your agent should tell you - if they don't just ask. They take their cut so its in their interes...

Re: Licence to perform
This varies wildly and there are a few threads on here about this already. My DS's agent does require him to have a valid medical certificate at all times as castings can often be very short notice and I think they find it easier if everyone is 'ready to go'. However it does work out expensive as a ...

Re: Leeds Based Agent
Does anyone know if Scala insist on kids attending their classes? My DS has a fair CV (CBBC, Radio 4, Disney Channel, theatre etc) but no way I can take him to classes in Leeds. Would like an agent rather than a theatre school.

Paulears - just out of curiosity how to show like Matilda, Charlie, Billy etc get by then? And what about all the pantos? My DS worked in a main provincial theatre last year with a whole raft of other kids - were they all illegal?

Hi Littlemum!!
Hope you're all doing well. I think your DS has done the right thing using his existing contacts - I got work experience for my DD (in year 12) this way. West Yorkshire Playhouse offer work experience - see their website. x

Re: Ballet/tap classes for 12 year old boy
Just out of interest - why are we talking boys only classes? My DS went up to grade 3 tap and ballet in a mixed class quite happily. After that, I do think they need a male teacher but for the basics most good teachers are fine surely? Go see the school, meet the teacher, fine out if there are any o...

Sisters? (Not sure where it's from but you know the one - 'sisters, sisters... there were never such devoted sisters...) seen this done at festivals and it can be funny with props etc. Or how about Anything You Can Do?

Thanks PG - I'll push them harder for explanations etc this time. I just wasn't sure if that was their job.

Exactly what does your agent do?
It's looking increasingly likely that my DS will soon be asked to sign a contract with a major entertainment corporation (begins with D ends in Y). We signed a contact for a pilot in Feb of this year - in fact we signed 3 because they kept sending revisions  There were a lot of clauses about o...

Re: School mums
I agree about tipping lyndahill. At Christmas our local butchers and grocers put boxes covered with giftwrap on their counters with 'Thank You & Merry Christmas' written on them. I think this is tantamount to begging frankly. I own and work in a shop and would NEVER allow this kind of behaviour ...

Re: School mums
I run a sweet/gift shop and we often get people in buying teacher gifts. We once had a teacher in who said that she didn't 'expect' gifts but she DID expect parents to come in and thank her for teaching their child  Good customer service prevented us pointing out that that's what her, not inc...

can anyone explain 'buy outs'?
DS has just filmed a commercial for Morrisons. After making me sign a 'contract' at the audition they also stuck a contract on my knee in the pitch black on Friday night when filming was half way through and said I had to sign again so I did. Agent has since said I should have phoned her at home but...
