Re: Rambert waiting list
And let's not forget that some places at these schools will be offered to people who didn't attend the regular auditions at all - eg from their summer school or who have been spotted at international competitions etc.

Re: Rambert waiting list
The schools are a law unto themselves! Maybe this person was a definite 'yes' from the start and there was a misunderstanding somewhere along the line. Who knows what the circumstances are, and to be honest, although things may appear unfair from the point of view of somebody still waiting, there is...

Re: September 2015
It's still happening though, and I do urge anyone who has paid a deposit to ask for their money back!

Re: September 2015
Can I just remind everyone that if a school offers a Dada they are not allowed to charge anyone a deposit or registration fee to accept a Dada place and CDET are VERY interested to hear of any schools who are breaking the rules.

Re: Are trainees that need a full DaDA at a disadvantage?
I must admit we were rather cynical about the chances of dd being offered anywhere with a Dada this year, as we would qualify for the full amount of funding. I suspected that she would get waiting lists, because they could (as mentioned above) give several others a place instead of just one, but no....

They aren't allowed to award the money in any way other than in strict order of talent, from lists drawn up at the audition stage.

Re: Street Dance and Contemporary Classes Manchester/Stockpo
Search for the Centres of Advanced Training (CAT Schemes). There is one at the Lowry in Salford and the schemes are excellent & very highly regarded. There are a number around the country and the standard of training is really high. They usually audition for the schemes around this time of year....

Re: Pointe Shoes
The teacher probably suggested London because that is where the flagship stores are for the major makes of pointe shoe, and they will have a huge stock and many more styles & sizes/widths etc than a local dance shop could possibly offer. Freed is in St Martins Lane, Capezio in Endell St, and Blo...

Re: How much ballet per week?
Friends of dd who have auditioned for MT/all-round colleges this year for sept intake aged 16 have said that the ballet required is good technique at Intermediate, and I suspect that for those auditioning at 17/18 they would expect a higher level. For classical ballet schools at 16 then it's likely ...

Re: Dance types
It very much depends on the vocational school/college whether there is tap in the particular course you are doing. The ballet/dance courses tend not to have tap in the syllabus, but places that offer more all-round training probably will.

Re: Dance types
Lotsolaffs, if she's not all that keen on tap, she might prefer to give that up and do contemporary instead - and maybe switch to jazz instead of modern. How old is she? Is she thinking of a possible career in dance/musical theatre at some point in the future?
