Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Huge well done to everyone with offers and/or going through this gruelling audition process! What resilience! There must be a lot of movement from reserve lists quite late on. DDs friend was offered Urdang and Performers on the day during her interview and has three other offers too - so several pl...

My DD is on the reserve list for Bird also, it’s her first choice so we are trying to stay positive...also have had one recall so far and one rejection. Two more auditions to go! Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

For those with a child on the reserve at Bird you can ring around May and they will tell you where about you are on the list but only top half, bottom half etc... They wont give you a number. The degree reserve is longer as they take on and have more degree applicants. Those on the lists get the off...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

WOW pushymums(or not) have you noticed how many views there are of this thread? Is that indicative of how many are applying (or considering applying for a later year) or just that everyone has cottoned on to how great this forum is? How many are there? Couldn't see where that information is. But ye...

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

Not sure if anyone can help or if this is the right place to post. DD will be auditioning for sept 20. I’m a bit confused by some of the funding and course options. Some of the colleges she looks like she would be better off applying for a diploma and some the degree. It’s a bit hard to tell which ...

Re: Musical Theatre Btec

My DD did 4 years at BOA (Birmingham Ormiston Academy ) in Birmingham city centre - that was BTEC plus if 16 can do A Level along side or GCSEs if start at 14. Great school. She is now at one of the top London schools. They do dance on MT but not too hard. She did her dance more so outside of BOA.

This is quite common as body not used to the level they have at the colleges. I remember alot in first year struggling with injuries in the first term but they soon get used to it and most colleges have their own physios.

Re: Dd struggling - advice

I agree that the more you do something the easier it becomes. My DD does not really like improv and prefers a script but finds it alot easier a year on.
Rather than focusing on what she is good at spend more time on her weakness. DD not great at Ballet and had extra lessons over the summer break.

Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019

For those looking for London hotels for auditions and trying to do on the cheap please consider ones like the Premier Inn at Sidcup (close to Bird) the train station is opposite and you are in central London in 30 minutes. Costs around £49 a night (as opposed to £150 a night for a Premier Inn in the...

When we were finally accepted they back dated it to the day she moved into her new accommodation

Re: Leaving home essentials !

If going to a dance college then Deep heat & freeze spray are a must. Also the usual medicines for pain and colds etc... They can get down if not feeling well. Lots of photos in frames and make their room feel like theirs and nice and pretty. I am assuming if living with a host then meals will b...
