Re: Auditioning for Sept 2019
DS1 who was always the quiet academic one (DS3 is the performer) has decided to throw us an exciting curve ball and not to put in a UCAS form and to apply to Guildhall for Sept 2019 He is applying for music so not the same sphere of perfornance as the rest of you, but I thought you might recognise t...

No worries! Once you get your way round the threads and the search facility here there is loads of information.

Re: Secondary schools
I can't tell you which would be best for your child but the link below refers to all of the schools which are part of the MDS scheme and several others too, so it might be a good place to start. https://www.goodschoolsguide.co.uk/choosing-a-school/child-with-performing-arts-talents Other vocational ...
Re: Why.. Can anyone help please
There is lots of info on here about where to look for opportunities and how to find a good agent. I think people often put up open call information, but you can't put up information about castings that have come through agents, it isn't professional or appropriate, and it wouldn't be helpful to some...

Thank you! I'm on it...
Meanwhile I sound like Barry White... Not sure that's going to be the boy soprano sound they are looking for from DS though...

Re: Sore throat remedies
Just bumping this thread as DS opens in a show in just over a week, and has another singing casting this Sunday for a different show, and I think he is going down with the cold I currebtly have which has left me entirely without a voice. We have vocalzones, and I am about to try some of the tips abo...

Re: Travelling from outside of London
We are in the north, and we don't do London castings for TVC. It's too far, too last minute with too many identical children. We do travel for bigger stuff - usually after a self tape (although DS hates self taping). We do travel last minute for more local casting, and we are fortunate to have quite...

Re: Self Tape Success Stories
We've never had anything from a self tape either. Tempted to give up on them, but we live a long way from London and it seems increasingly the way things are going. Had some feedback from one agent which was helpful and I think they are better now than they were, but obviously not good enough. Our h...

Re: Dealing with no
Well you never know!!! Hubby might be right!
Optimism is good. Realism is also good. You just never know, and it's not always the ones that you think they will do well at where they land the part.

Re: Dealing with no
I always tell DS as soon as I know, anything else feels dishonest to me. Often though we just never hear again and assume its a no... DS is pretty pragmatic. Most of the no's don't even touch the sides any more but sometimes if he really wantes it and got close it can be harder. But it still comes d...

Re: Those nervous feelings
Congratulations! Thst sounds like a great start. =D> In our experience it can be frantic at times and dead at others, which is probably a good thing as the frantic thing would do my head in if it was constant. We are waiting on a final round MT job and so Yes, I'm a bit fluttery and refreshing email...

Re: School Absence
Yes, agreed - school cannot just say no. They can only refuse if there is evidence that your child's attendance is already low or if they are struggling academically. I have attempted to link to some other threads on it: http://notapushymum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22473&p=243518&hi...

Re: How to tell your agent you’re leaving?
They don't really have much on an incentive to keep you to your notice period if you aren't earning money for them so they will probably let you go, although we tiptoed around leaving one agent as they took things incredibly personally and slagged people off who left as 'disloyal'.(A good reason to ...
