Re: September 2015
Oh no Pearl, fingers crossed that it doesn't affect her singing too much and good luck for Friday. DS was happy with his audition, but has just arrived home limping badly with a pulled hamstring. He did it at the end of the jazz session (first thing) but has battled on so hopefully it isn't too bad...

Re: Jane Austen style monologue
Northanger Abbey is less well known but quite good fun. There was a to adaptation a couple of years ago but it is far less well known than the other Austen standards.

Re: The Voice
I'm so sorry she went out before we had a chance to vote for her Welsh Mum. Rita seems to make some strange decisions chosing untrained contestants over trained. I love Will.i.am's choices though, always interesting :) Thanks I was disappointed for her. I think Rita's 2 boys are quite weak but she ...

Re: looking for adult professional level classes
My DD loves Danceworks, rates the teachers highly. I also agree about not being too hung up on what the classes are called . She has been to general classes with some incredible dancers.nits also central so easily accessible.

Re: The Voice
I'm very sceptical about the Voice. I've known a few contestants over the time it's been on, and the results seem to be more about pazzaz than vocal ability. In fact, the people who win frequently don't do as well, career wise. I wish your friend the best of luck, but if they don't make it - do NOT...

Re: uniforms for MT school for diploma or degree?
When not in dance classes Central require students to wear all black every day. We got lots of different style black tops - t shirts, tunics, sleeveless, strappy etc as well as black leggings and jazz pants. This all black rule is enforced every day for the first 2 years at least.

Re: Mountview MT audition
There has always been a good standard of dance required at MV but I know that at the audition they split the dance audition by ability. At least they did when DD auditioned there.

Re: uniforms for MT school for diploma or degree?
When my dD was at Central it was also quite relaxed so she took some of her old stuff with some new extras. She already had lots of dance stuff so we did not fork out for all new stuff and that was not a problem. We did need a character skirt and Central sent us paper patterns so we got that made at...

Re: Value of degree in the real world?
If you are doing a vocational degree like Acting or Musical Theatre the amount of written academic work is very minimal and directly related to what you are doing practically.

Re: Value of degree in the real world?
When my DD decided she wanted to pursue vocational training our view was much the same as yours. We said we would support her, but it had to be a degree course. Our thinking was that if all else fails she could go into teaching - which requires a degree. Also 60% of jobs don't specify what subject y...
