I really sympathise PM. You must wish she was staying at home but at least she will be close. I can understand why she wants to do it, though that doesn't mean it is any easier for you :(

My eldest DD goes to Madrid for year in Sept (she will be home for about a week or so at Christmas), and youngest off to Central, so it will just be DH and me left at home :( :( . What we will find to talk about I don't know   It will be very quiet and far less busy and probably tidier but I am dreading it :-({|= :-({|= .

We are hoping to see eldest in Madrid at half term, and will also try to get up to London at some point for youngest. But this empty nest thing is very hard to cope with - how have others found it??

can sympathise with you both, mine went last year at 16 we only saw her at Christmas and Easter. They become very self efficent, for the first few months we had phone calls when problems occured now she sorts them out herself. Found it more difficult when she was home or when we went shopping as she is so independent but at the same time this process is a natural progression luckly my dd talks to us and involves us so we are aware of what she is doing ect.
Good luck to any going away, they always return as nothing like a home cooked meal and laundry done.

If I didnt get the scolarship i would have had to leave home (age 16) but i got travel and fees so i am good but i feel so sorry for you guys because I would have dreaded leaving home and my mum would have hated it too!

And songbird yes it was lol!, i am guessing your child was in it ... possibly playing dead mum? (who told me about the site)

I knew I wouldnt be alone. WM I suppose I should be grateful I have my eldest still at home,he said his always wanted to be an only child  Madrid for a year sounds fantastic and a great excuse for a holiday. BP my daughter does absolutely nothing for herself so I suppose i'll be getting plenty of phonecalls. I know its a natural progresssion but their my babies and im going to miss them sooooo much!! I had to put my dog down last month and my mum has just been diagnosed with cancer so all in all this has been a horrid few weeks!!!

Oh no PM, you have really been through it - so sorry to hear about your dog and your Mum. Not surprised you are feeling emotionally fragile atm.

Yes great for my DD in Madrid, but she doesn't even know where she will live yet - she will get a hostel for the first couple of weeks when she flat hunts, so I will be very worried then. Still, it is thousands of miles closer than when she was in Chile for her gap year. She is working in a Spanish Junior school and really looking forward to it.

I know exactlybhow you feel PM. One part of me wants to keep my babies ;) close and safe. The other part wants them to seize every opportunity they can :D .

Still we can always come on here to consol ourselves :)

no DD does not do sts although she has sang the dead mum song as part of a trio with her brother as Billy in the past, but we know people who do STS shows and they have fun their shows never fit with all the other commitments we have lol x

PM I do hope things pick up soon for you and you start to feel a little better, your children will always be your children it doesnt matter how far away they might be. I am sure you eldest with love having you all to himself.

Now you and WM can have the time of your life. I am guessing your DH are delighted to have you all to themselves. Cheer up ladies your dd's are doing great and you should be very proud of them. =D> =D>
