Auditions for the two children to star in Martin Scorsese's up-coming foray into the world of family entertainment have been taking place in the UK, US and Australia over the past couple of months. The Invention of Hugo Cabret will be based on Brian Selznick’s gorgeous kids’ adventure about a 12-year-old orphan living in the walls of a Parisian train station in the 1930s and trying to keep his father’s inventive legacy and memory alive.

Recent casting rumours have suggested Asa Butterfield (star of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and the about to be released Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang) will take the lead role of Hugo Cabret.

With experienced 12 year old American actress Chloe Moretz (about to hit our screens in Kick-Ass alongside Aaron Johnson) cast as his eccentric friend Isabelle.

Filming is scheduled to take place in Paris and the UK from June
So, long drawn-out casting process again, only for them to "find" kids they probably had their eye on from the beginning!!!!!! #-o

Re: Hugo C - that was a quick casting compared to other drawn out ones on this forum- do you think they had already pencilled in the leads? :D

my seriuosly tiny dd went for a doubles casting for charlie and the chocolate factory - but for the only time in her life, she was too tall - doubles is such a tricky one - keeping fingers crossed for your ds
