Short Film - The Neighbourhood Casting

Post by HK1 »

Hi NAPMs,

My name is Sarah Westby and I am the Producer of the ambitious student short film project from the Film and Television Department at the University of York.

The film revolves around a young girl, Safia, who has just moved into a new town. This new world looks and feels like perfection, but a strange horror lingers below the surface. The women are beautiful, the men tall and handsome, but behind their smiles and stares something awful is lurking. Safia must make a choice: will she run away from the truth? Or will she find out what The Neighbourhood is really hiding?

We are currently in the process of casting for the lead role of Safia. Here is a short breakdown of the role:

Safia: (Playing age: 16-18) FEMALE

Safia is a cool, quirky but headstrong young woman of Asian/Middle Eastern descent who has just moved into a new town with her parents.

While the actress has no religious requirements, she will be wearing a hijab as part of her costume which will then be removed as part of the story of the film.

The filming dates are the 6th - 12th February 2017 in York, though we will be able to provide accommodation if actors live further out. As we are a student film, we cannot offer payment for the roles, however we will pay for travel, accommodation and catering expenses.

Please do let us know if you have any questions, and whether you could recommend anyone. We will be auditioning through self tapes.

Thank you,

Sarah
