What makes a swing different to the others? Would they not just be the next best ones? Or do they look for something different in a swing? I just wondered why they wanted to see the potential swings separately at the end.

I thought they were seeing them separately to try them out with a different role. Like they'd looked at them during the day for Amanda and then kept them back to try them on the barrelina song to see if they could swing in for both Amanda or Lavender... ? The older/taller girls weren't kept back as no swing for those roles? Most of those kept back were boys weren't they.

My niece played Amanda in the West end and the Amanda's and lavender couldn't be swing for each other as they are both characters who have a big part, the cover Matilda played them if it was needed, may be different for the tour though xx

Tour is running differently. 2 of each character and some swing children attached to each of the 2 teams who will sometimes cover for one character and sometimes for another.

Yes, I don't think they swing for each other. I thought that there would be a girl on each team whose role is swing and she replaces either Amanda or Lavender in x number of shows a week.

Not as far as I know. Final ensemble auditions were last Saturday. Not sure about Matilda role.

From website, still two first rounds for ensemble to go (although this may be London but would be surprised if no cross-over) - http://uk.matildathemusical.com/about/auditions/
We also got the email asking for more boys and girls under 4/3". Both DDs too tall now :( .
Best of luck to all those going along.

People go very quiet when it's a yes - there are very strict rules about sharing the information before it's announced in the press.

They originally auditioned 1000 kids from all over the country so I think they did brilliantly to have got to the final recall, whatever the outcome. We were told that all the kids that got to the final for the tour were incredibly talented and it was simply a matter of pulling all the pieces into a giant jigsaw puzzle.

We got a no for the tour but have been put straight through to the London recall. Still feeling unsure about going though tbh.
