Didn't really like the obvious X Factor treatment - and the fact they put singers through to final 104 who could not sing very well - clearly just to make "good" tv ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Jonathan Ansell irritated me - auditioning when he already has a role in something else?? [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X

Will prob watch again though ;)

There will only be one JCS for me:

I always get hooked on these programmes :D Not sure people that already professional should be allowed to enter at all, isn't it supposed to be about undiscovered, untrained talent, there is another in the final forty who was in sunday In The Park With George in the West End with my daughter, he has done many professional shows. Dont know if he will make top thirty of course, we shall see!

Completely agree with you about that youtube clip Welsh Mum :D I thought the same as you about Jonathan Ansell but came across these comments this morning http://www.whatsonstage.com/board/index ... e__st__420

where it seems he may have told everyone he was going to audition all along, and they've edited everything for TV to his disadvantage. I don't like being manipulated by editing itv [-X so will be keeping an open mind, thank you very much.

GeorgieRose I see what you mean, but I loved hearing those fabulous voices and if they're well known professionals I'm not complaining. Free chances to hear more of them :D

Thanks for posting the link Welsh mum, saw him in the west end and had forgotten how amazing he was :D they will need to find someone who has a certain something to come anywhere near close to Steve's performance. Will be watching tonight

I love Steve Balsamo (local lad as well - have met him a couple of times ( and spotted himm shopping in tescos   ) and he is lovely) and his Jesus is very special indeed - his voice is amazing!!

BTW my DD has sung on an album with one of the Rock Tenors - Jonathan Williams, the one with a beard who is not blonde. She said after that she rated him very highly - and another nice guy :) However, he was alternate Jean Valjean in the west end for a while and has also been in Godspell - so not really finding new talent, like many of the other contestants.

I agree with you HCS about the manipulation {evil} {evil} {evil} don't like it al all.

Very interesting ladies. Another contestant Sam Cassidy is also professional. He has played the alternate Joseph in the UK tour in which Craig Chalmers played Joseph. Even more jaded by this show now. It seems to be just a new marketing tool to promote a new show in times where many West End Shows struggle to get big enough audiences! Let's hope they do find some undiscovered talent like they did with Sophie in Over The Rainbow .

Had the pleasure of seeing Steve perform as JC about 10 or so years ago now at the Lyceum, must be longer actually as the Lion KIng took over then.
I'm not against professionals having their chance , it's an audition at the end of the day, and people already in the game struggle very often as much as anyone else to get the next job, often training for years as we know, not on all cases but some.
I missed this weeks episode but will catch up this week.
JCS is favourite ever musical , its how my love of MT started, ever and I STRONGLY believe it needs to have a rock- type voice not a sparkly musical theatre voice ( just me )

I am also sympathetic to the profesisonals - there is not a lot of work around and this is a big role, so they are bound to want to audition for it. However, I do get annoyed with the tv portraying it as something else - they introduced Jonathan Williams as a barman    This may be what he does between jobs, but they glossed over his primary job.

Not Suprised Jonathan Ansell went - dont they liked his attitude.

DD was amused they made out the acting through song class was tough - she said it was a walk in the park compared to classes she has      which are MUCH tougher !!

Might as well have just picked from the agencys, done to promote theatre that's for sure, and so edited :D but, on the other hand, I will still be hooked, so just shows as it is lovely to hear the singers.

Ok, I give in :-# , Jonathan Ansell is a pratt and deserved to go

Have been watching the complete videos online and thought this one did the best job of portraying its boys well http://superstar.itv.com/auditions/vide ... 200618.htm

Nathan James did well in his video, considering he said last night he was a rock singer and couldn't act.

Shortguy I thought I saw a link on another message board to a Daily Mail photo of some of the last 10, but I can't find it now :? Remember noticing Seamus Heaney in it and yet I'm puzzled as they've given him practically zero camera time so far. I don't rate his voice compared to alot of the others so I don't want to see him in the final 10 :(

They portrayed Sam as a model!! But I agree of course both professional and undiscovered people would want to audition for such a fantastic role. It's just the misleading portrayal of the contestants that leaves a bad taste. Welsh Mum I couldn't agree with your comments more.
