Some of us are still here - well in both places actually - and balletcoforum is at the moment only until sometime in March so who knows what will happen then! Busy time in ballet world as its audition time with most results known in March.

Can I ask a quick dance question - in the lower grade exams, do the kids still have to be able to identify Waltz, Polka and March, and be able to clap time as in clap me crotchets? Or has this been 'retired'? I'm in the middle of a recording project of music for Ballet exams and don't want to appear a compete dolt by asking if this really is in the exam?

Yes I too am sorry that people appear to have defected. It seems ungrateful :( when NAPM went to all the trouble of creating this section. HOWEVER I think it is still useful as those not wanting to specialize in classical ballet can post on here about other dance courses, dance shoes (Keep meaning to start a thread about tap shoes sizing - Bloch and Capezios, for example), etc etc.

Paulears my 2 have worked their way through the lower RAD grades and tell me they never had those kind of question/tasks. I did - 35 years ago

I think it depends on the exam board. DD did her first exam with the BBO and she had to clap time in 2's and 3's and an ISTD teacher I know talks about ideentifying time but dd now does RAD and she doesn't have to.

My DD did ISTD when younger - not as long ago as you Hecouldshine   - and she did clapping 3/4, 2/2 etc.

I am pretty sure DS claps in Modern grade 3 - don't think he does in RAD ballet 5

I teach the ISTD ballet grades and they have a music section in Primary- clapping Polka & Waltz, Grade 1- Polka, Waltz & March & Grade 2 recognising Crotchets, Quavers etc. Not all the dancers have gone! I am sure they are like me and looking at both forums :)

I am certain we will all be back - don't think the Ballet.co forum is going to carry on after March. I never actually posted on here til now but don't want to appear ungrateful especially as this section was kindly set up as a response to the other forum ceasing to exist! However the other forum is pretty much focused on ballet, so i Suppose that for as long as it is still in existence we ballet people will mainly be there....

We are still here (also in both!), but although she has done brilliantly in ballet exams DD does not have a ballet physique, and has always known that!! So it's great for me to be able to post here!!
